^ Overall correct. Except that Sony and Microsoft will both be playing catch-up with Nintendo.
Nintendo is selling systems at a much faster rate than Sony or Microsoft, and is doing so in a much more profitable manner.
That said, there's a system for everybody.
For instance, I like an in-depth game that's going to take me 50, 100 or more hours of gameplay to beat. I don't like shooters, I've been playing them since I was seven, I believe the market is saturated and shooters can't make any more real progress (that's not to say they won't continue to be popular -- clearly the case).
Because of that, I like the PS3 the best because its exclusive titles are enough to keep me interested.
However, if somebody is looking for a quick but mature experience, something they can delve right into, or looking for best bang for the buck on cross-platform gaming (EA stuff), the XBox 360 is the way to go.
Somebody looking for a fun, interactive experience who doesn't want too much heavy fare should get a Wii.
It's all based on what's right for you. Anybody who says the same system is the best system for everybody is an idiot.
I mean, I'm not going to suggest that these Microsoft-worshipping, EA Games-loving fools pick up a PS3, because their short-sightedness won't allow them to have a good time with it.
