PS3 Vs 360

I am by no means a gamer but correct me if I am wrong. One reason for the PS3 higher price then 360 is due to the fact it comes with a BlueRay disk player.

That's true, but I'd say many people don't care about BluRay and are forced to buy something they don't need or care about.

I don't think either format will be around all that long, but that's just an opinion. Wrong place at the wrong time. Technology is advancing too fast and BluRay/HD-DVD are going too slow.

I've been a PS man since the first Playstation and I am now seriously considering bypassing the PS3 and getting the XBOX 360 Elite. Anybody rocking the Elite right now??

I have an Elite.

socom is a USA vs. ********** game. not going to lie, when i kill the terrorists online, i feel good about myself. i've been in several online games where its really american citizens as the seals playing against towel heads being themselves. its crazy they talk in the crazy language in the big room before the game starts. the americans talk crap to them, rather funny

Rainbow 6 Vegas is a terrorist elimination type game.

I'm dead honest when saying this....

I was a huge PS fan. I still got both of my old PS systems. My brother-in-law bought a 360 when they first came out, and it took him forever to get me to even play it. Once I did the 360 has been the best system that has come out to date. The very first thing that got me about the 360 was the controller then it was the arcade and integration with the pc. Also how could I forget Xbox Live is UNMATCHED, and will stay that way for a long time.

better price
better games
better system
better online gaming
better controller

Has anyone actually played on a PS3 AND a 360 for an extended period of time and can give a fair comparison? I have not played on a 360 so I can't really say much about it, but I recieved a PS3 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and I think it is amazing. The graphics are awesome (especially on a 55" LCD) The controller basically hasn't changed. The system comes with one wireless controller. You plug it in to one of the USB ports on the front basically for charging. I've always been a little skeptical of wireless controllers, but have been very impressed with this one. One thing that has been added to the controller is motion control. Moving the controller forward, to the side, or twisting are valid inputs.

I'm sure you may have heard this numerous times, but I'll say it again. The PS3 may be the most expensive gaming system out there, but it is also one of the least expensive Blu-Ray players out there as well. Most Blu-Ray players go for around $1000. I expect it to beat out HD-DVD in the long run as the next generation DVDs.

Sure there are more games for the 360, but it has been out longer too. There is a good core selection for the PS3 right now and more to come soon.

A few more things: The operating system is very much like the PSP. It has 4 USB slots that can be used for connecting or charging controllers and for USB drives. It also has slots for Compact Flash cards, SD (and mini-SD) cards, and Memory Stick.

The biggest negative I had with it was that the video output cable that comes with it only supports 480i and I had to go out and throw down another $100 on a HDMI cable to get the HD quality 1080p (necessary to play Blu-Ray)

Ouch!

To answer your initial question, DrRosenRosen has both systems.

But it is different strokes for different folks.

Whoah...$100 on an HDMI is rediculous. Buy online next time and get it for $10 or $20.

I have a PS3 I got on launch day and a 360 from launch day. Played both extensively. (Well, maybe not extensively since I only have 2 PS3 games. I'm at about 21 games for the 360)

The PS3 has numerous problems that still annoy the heck out of me. Controller has to be connected when doing firmware updates, not charging in off mode (although this might be changing very soon), lack of online integration, slow downloads, limited demos, limited arcade games for sale, and the total butchering of video resultions for games and movies are all things that should have been fixed long ago.

Just about every game on both systems runs better on the 360. This means graphics and motion-wise.

Everyone has their own take on BluRay...I personally don't care about it and don't think it will be around very long. There's better storage right around the corner that will be affordable soon...or combo players.

BluRay players are dropping in price and are under $600 for some models now.

My opinion right now is Sony dropped the ball and will be playing catch up for the next 4 years. Then, the 3rd xbox will drop and they will really be faced with a tough decision. Their hopes of a 10-year cycle is just plain stupid nowdays with technology advancements.

I don't think anyone will even attempt to argue that the PS3 online system is in the same league as Microsoft at this point.

do you think sooner or later that ps3 will charge you for it and have one similar to the 360? or do you think that it will stay below the 360's?

I don't forsee it approaching LIVE on the PS3. They will have similar things, but the tightness of integration just isn't there for developers. MS has great tools for developers to basically just drop in a bunch of the network stuff.

Sony wants to have the Sims where you walk around and mingle. I just hope they have menu interfaces for those of us not wanting the walk around.

You'll pay for it one way or another, either through subscription, hardward costs, or in lack of features.
