Pruitt's future here may depend on...

How can we start firing coaches? We have a terrible offensive line, blocking for a QB that couldn't read a blitz, pre-snap, if his life depended on it. I know that sounds hateful. But, the proof is in the pudding. JG will get it. Or, he will be crippled for life. But, to start talking about dismissing our OC seems a bit premature. Let's see what he can do, with a good O'line. Come on, man!

May depend on when they want to pull the trigger on the buyout unless his recruiting is off the charts good.

None of these guys on the staff appears able to really out scheme anyone.
We are damned if he succeeds, and damned if he doesn't. If he succeeds, he's off to Bama, when Nikolas retires or DIES! Emphasis on DIE! If he doesn't...........have you seen what Randy Sanders has accomplished at ETSU? 3-8 to 8-3, in one freakin' season!

Guys. We just have to get more talented players and develop them. If Pruitt doesn’t do that 3-4 years, then we can talk about who’s next.

Randy Sanders was not just a bad OC, he was astonishingly, incomprehensibly bad. He was the worst OC I have ever seen, bar none - he did less with more at a level of awfulness that truly could only be grasped if you experienced it firsthand.

In his first ever big time coordinator job. He's learned........alot. He's been pretty darn successful everywhere else he's been.

Agreed. But, I still believe he ain't staying. But, I am ok with it. He's a Bama guy.

I'd be fine with him being successful enough for Bama to want him.

His recruiting and evaluating is going to have to be off the charts good for that to happen though IMO.

You are not wrong, but the OC is not to blame for the turnovers.

Is he in charge of the offense? Then, you bet your ass he is to blame. As are the players, the position coaches and the head coach. Taking ownership of the errors is the only way to overcome it.

When they start nominating dumbest posts of all time, you just earned my vote. And that includes all of D4H's BS.

Tennessee offense is now ranked 119 after the abysmal performance at Missouri. Some perennial powerhouses ranked above UT's offense....Charlotte, Ga Southern, South Alabama, Miami(OH), Troy, LA Tech, Coastal Carolina, MTSU, Kent St., Troy, Tulane, etc.

On his willingness to replace Helton. Helton is a liability to Pruitt and this team. There hasn't been a more predictable OC here since Randy Sanders.
Ridiculous to already reach this conclusion. We have a historically bad offensive line coupled with a QB that isn’t capable (yet?) of identifying blitz packages. The last thing we need is another coordinator change.

Helton was only a co-coordinator at USC and they were very mediocre offense there with a decent offensive line. It was a mistake to hire a first year OC and bring him here your first year as HC. It was just as bad to hire a friend as OLC that couldn't coach up a good line at Georgia when he was there surrounded by talent.

This...I think Pruitt is recognizing this by some of his comments.

You are responding as if I said he should be fired because our offense is not in the top 25, or top 40, or 50, or even 60. This offense is ranked 119 out of 129 teams. There is no excuse for this with the weapons we have on offense....regardless of how bad the O-line is.

Do you realize it's his first year with a returning 4-8 team?

Thanks a bunch for the update. 🙄

I've alluded to recruiting being a key to his success twice in this thread. If he doesn't recruit well he wont last just like any other head coach and it will come down to the powers that be making the decision on his future.

Announcers and media outlets have stated all year long he is being hampered by the lack of OL. Until we line up some 320+ pounders on the OL you are going to see much of the same. You cannot play in the SEC weekly with a sub 300 pound avg oline. I get maybe having a center at 290 range. Outside of that you gotta have some bigger bodies. I don't know where we get them at this point unless we can get a couple transfers this coming year.

Of the 2800 plus posts your have made on this board, this one is the worst and has no forsight what so ever. I have some concers about the offense, but it is not the Offensive Corodinator. It is have no healthy lineman who are of SEC caliber. They are too small, too slow, too weak, and too little experienced. There was/is a reason why we were picked to finish last or next to last in the SEC. he two wins against Auburn and Kentucky were unexpected but shows that some progress has been made despte the quality of the returning talent. Losing Trey Smith during was another big blow the the Oline. It will be difficult for Tennessee to beat Vanderbilt in Nashville, but I don't think our players will quit during the game. If JG can not play, the odds decrease to almost impossible. Lets hopr that JG will play and that the defense can bottle up Vandy"s offense. Our defense and Special Teams may be able to score a couple and pull the game outmay be able get us a win and a bowl game.

Not even close. If Pruitt doesnt read the writing on the wall and waits for Helton to prove what most people already know, it will be his head on the chopping block instead of Helton's. No excuse for 113th ranked offense with 4 and 5 star players.
Please show your cross demographic survey.

Thanks.

I also included the QB, which you conveniently left out of your “analysis”. Firing the OC after one year after the chaos this program has endured is honestly the dumbest thing I’ve heard. And that’s really saying something.
