So Will friend basically makes CSUs offensive line relevant again and somehow after only having about 8 months to coach guys that have 3-4 years of bad habits and problems he isn’t a good coach.... good lord....

Helton had to instill his version of an offense within 8 months you realize this right? Have you ever seen a super successful offense after just 8 months? I know I haven’t.

Edit: Alabama should of just fired Saban after his first year as head coach.... you know because they sucked horribly.... even lost to Louisiana Monroe.....

The fan base is just used to that being the correct assumption to go along with losing. The reality is we have bad players who just started lifting weights and practicing correctly this spring.

If people expected perfection this year then that’s their own fault.

We have two quality wins, one on the road in the west .that never happens. Making a bowl is huge for the practice time.

BVS tells me when it’s important, the vols choke. I think a win Saturday would be a very good sign for the future. But we are probably outmatched and that’s the painful truth.

Will Friend and Tyson only worked together during the UAB times and didn't re-unite until now. Their Offensive philosophies may have definitely changed. Will friend took an immediate SEC route while Helton took the non-power house to west coast path.

Pruitt only worked with Will Friend for 1 year at Georgia but I still believed he asked him to be OC first. After Georgia, he was the OC at CSU and did well for awhile.

Now back to my thread title. If Pruitt makes a change in the offense, does he stick with Tyson and add Calaway? Or does he kick out Tyson and promote Friend to OC/OL? I actually hope none of them and brings in a brand new OC who's never met but has a solid track record.

How will another change at OC fix anything? It will just add another level of chaos to what already exists. Let's at least try going a couple of years with the same coordinator and let him get the system fully integrated? We were abysmally bad last year. No one could have changed it more that it already has in less than a full year.

Their QB had all day our QB had a brief second or two. They ran it all over us our run got stuffed. Those two things are the total difference in the game change those two dynamics and you have Tennessee winning the game.

You paying Coach Pruitt and his staff's buyouts this go round? Last 8 years? Not 10? Maybe Kiffin will come back. Wait, I think he coached with Pruitt in Bammer land and said UT made a great hire.

Stevie Wonder can see its the players. Our OL Richmond 316, Tatum 293, Johnson 285, Niehaus 287, Johnson 302. MO's smallest OL player is 315. Our largest is 316. We need some 320+ guys on the OL. We currently average under 300 pounds across the line. Pathetic for SEC play.

Helton has had to scheme around very poor OLine play this entire season and CJP wants to establish the run which isn't gonna happen. A fast,mobile, QB would be the difference maker but Dobbs is gone. Lack of development along the OLine and lack of QB play has sealed the deal for UT. I, for one, am thankful the situation isn't much worse than it is.

This might be more of an indictment of the quarterback. If there are 10 men in the box, you change the play in most cases.

the solution to every football setback is "Fahr Somebody". Good thing some of you people dont run a business. I would hate to work for you.

The ONLY solution right now is to sit back and wait. i know some people here get frustrated and get a delusion of being able to change things by calling for heads to roll. The truth is that we as fans have no power to help this program right now short of supporting the staff and team we have. Some of you though would kill the Patient in order to cure him. You are bout as helpful as the doctors who recommended continuing to bleed George Washington when he was bedridden with his final illness.

Just SHUT UP already. PLEASE!

Mike Debord is a better OC than Helton.
I said early on that Pruitt needed to hire a seasoned play caller to aid his transition. I find it hard to believe that the continued procedure and alignment penalties can be blamed on under skilled players.

Good gosh almighty!! Helton was a genius after the Auburn and Kentucky games, after Mizzou Helton is the "problem" . . . I don't give a rat's azz what play you call, if you don't have the OL to execute it you're doomed!! The OL got their butts whipped, over and over and over just like they did in all six losses and one win, Charlotte. What the hell do you expect when you have an OL that is way undersized?

Be honest with the answer to this question: How many of our current OL received offers from the top tier of the SEC or other top teams within the Power 5 conferences (ND, Michigan, Ohio State, etc.)? Trey Smith is the only one that I can think of, the rest not so much.

Boys and girls, it isn't the current coaching that's the issue - it's years of players not being coached, piss poor S&C program, the acceptance of mediocre performance at practice and on Saturday's, etc., etc., etc.

CJP is recruiting true SEC type OL - 6'-3" plus and 290 plus pounds that have frames to build upon with a good S&C program.

Patience is hard to come by around here due to years and years of crap, from the previous AD administrations and coaches brought in over that time, but CJP needs time!!

I personally think Pruitt gives Friend and Helton the axe. I don't expect it will be an outright public firing, but my guess is they will both "take another opportunity" that will likely be a cut in pay somewhere else. There is no excuse for Chandler not be getting 10+ targets in the air.

It is impossible to assess Helton fairly based on this year. With this offensive line, Bill Walsh would struggle calling plays, there are not too many plays you can call to scheme around no pass blocking or run blocking. It's not Friend's fault either, this OL sucked last year. We need multiple recruiting cycles to address that issue.

I like Pruitt and said since his first day on the job it will take him 3 or 4 years to build an SEC caliber team. However, the players on this team lack the ability to run out of a power pro type set. The talent recruited by Jones was for a spread type O. We have nowhere near the o line for a power I, or any other type pro type offense. It is obvious to a pewee football player. We have a good recruiting class coming and I just hope we can keep them all. The best game Helton called this season was the Auburn game. I wished he would take his plays he called during that game and run the exact plays, in order, against Vandy. Jet sweeps, screen passes, short passes to the backs, reverses etc. Forget running off tackle up the middle. We simply do not have the bulldozers up front for this. Absolutely WASTED PLAYS UP THE MIDDLE.........EVEN ON VANDY. I realize Vandy is pretty good with a lot of veteran players. However, Vandy is still Vandy and if we cannot beat them we do not deserve a bowl game. By the way, we do not need to get rid of Pruitt because nobody else wants the job. I like Pruitt and he will get the job done if we will give him enough time.

Agreed. I think in 10 years or so he should probably have all this HC stuff figured out and we can then start competing with the Mizzoos and South Carolinas of the conference. Hopefully before he reaches 65 and starts drawing SS we can get back to Atlanta.

Patience children. We had to wait 50 years between NC's before and I'm sure we can do it again.
