He does need a better OC than Helton and a better line coach than Friend. Too much pay for too little result. You can base it on SEC results or a cherry pick games. I can't believe they watched Missouri film and that was their best game plan.
"We just need to give this staff a couple more years to see what kind of progress they can make."
Their were people still saying this about Butch and Dooley. The fan base has seen enough bad coaching over the last 8 years to know a turd when they see it.
How will another change at OC fix anything? It will just add another level of chaos to what already exists. Let's at least try going a couple of years with the same coordinator and let him get the system fully integrated? We were abysmally bad last year. No one could have changed it more that it already has in less than a full year. Not sure if this has been said.. but I like to find out the connections of why people are hired, etc..
My biggest fear is that Pruitt doesn't have enough solid connections with Offensive minded people. He's jumped around too many times.
Helton was the QB coach throughout 4 years when Friend was the OL (2007-2010). Also during this time, Neil Callaway was their Head Coach and Kim Helton (father of Helton) was the OC. After Callaway got fired Tyson stayed on but moved from QB to RB coach. Who was the OC/QB coach that took his place? Jeff Brohm. Who was the Head Coach? Garrick McGee who's now an "offensive analyst" for MIzzou... Tyson took a brief stint Cincy but Re-United with Brohm as OC at Western Kentucky. Neil Callaway ALSO joined them as OL coach.
Regarding Callaway, he was the OL Coach with Tyson 4 straight years but combined all years working together it has been 9 years. Guess who might be looking for another job? You guessed it.
Will Friend and Tyson only worked together during the UAB times and didn't re-unite until now. Their Offensive philosophies may have definitely changed. Will friend took an immediate SEC route while Helton took the non-power house to west coast path.
Pruitt only worked with Will Friend for 1 year at Georgia but I still believed he asked him to be OC first. After Georgia, he was the OC at CSU and did well for awhile.
Now back to my thread title. If Pruitt makes a change in the offense, does he stick with Tyson and add Calaway? Or does he kick out Tyson and promote Friend to OC/OL? I actually hope none of them and brings in a brand new OC who's never met but has a solid track record.
You paying Coach Pruitt and his staff's buyouts this go round? Last 8 years? Not 10? Maybe Kiffin will come back. Wait, I think he coached with Pruitt in Bammer land and said UT made a great hire."We just need to give this staff a couple more years to see what kind of progress they can make."

It’s either the players, or the coaches.
If it’s the players, then the coaches need a pass for this year.
Helton has had to scheme around very poor OLine play this entire season and CJP wants to establish the run which isn't gonna happen. A fast, mobile, QB would be the difference maker but Dobbs is gone. Lack of development along the OLine and lack of QB play has sealed the deal for UT. I, for one, am thankful the situation isn't much worse than it is.There is a simple solution. Recruit some good lineman. It will not matter who the oc is when your ol is as bad as ours is. Watch the games!!
This might be more of an indictment of the quarterback. If there are 10 men in the box, you change the play in most cases.I think Pruitt is fed up with Helton, this quote from Saturday night is telling

Pruitt: When they have more guys in there than we can block, we don't need to be running it in there. Which we did a lot.

I like Pruitt and said since his first day on the job it will take him 3 or 4 years to build an SEC caliber team. However, the players on this team lack the ability to run out of a power pro type set. The talent recruited by Jones was for a spread type O. We have nowhere near the o line for a power I, or any other type pro type offense. It is obvious to a pewee football player. We have a good recruiting class coming and I just hope we can keep them all. The best game Helton called this season was the Auburn game. I wished he would take his plays he called during that game and run the exact plays, in order, against Vandy. Jet sweeps, screen passes, short passes to the backs, reverses etc. Forget running off tackle up the middle. We simply do not have the bulldozers up front for this. Absolutely WASTED PLAYS UP THE MIDDLE.........EVEN ON VANDY. I realize Vandy is pretty good with a lot of veteran players. However, Vandy is still Vandy and if we cannot beat them we do not deserve a bowl game. By the way, we do not need to get rid of Pruitt because nobody else wants the job. I like Pruitt and he will get the job done if we will give him enough time.
