Pruitt's "17 points" remark

Because he sucks arse. It’s pretty easy math.

Big JC didn’t “all the sudden” become trash when he came back to TN. Pruitt is a micro manager. We’ve all had those idiots in our lives. The answer is obvious weather we want to see it or not.

His O averages 20 points per game vs FBS teams.

For the most part you need a good O to win now days. His teams can’t score, and his teams don’t win.

Below .500 at 15-17 while playing 7 non power 5 teams.........not good.

Reminds me of the Buddy Ryan quote about all pro RB Wilbert Montgomery on his arrival as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Asked during summer camp how Montgomery was doing Ryan responded with, "He can't block, can't run the ball well, or even catch a pass other than that he's a great football player."

Given your quote above, "His teams can’t score, and his teams don’t win." other than scoring much or winning Pruitt puts great a UT football team on the field.

When Pruitt said that today about not trying to only score 17 points, it got me thinking. Time to look back at scoring during his tenure here:

He's coached 32 games here.

Against FBS opponents, his offense scored over 30 points TWICE
(third one was only 31 b/c of HT's pick six)

Also twice they've only scored single digits. (7 and 3)

His team has scored over 40 points ONE TIME (included above)

However...TWELVE times they've scored 17 or less.

Pruitt's teams are statistically as likely to score single digits against an FBS opponent as they are to score over 30.

you are leaving out the JG factor

Seems like the best place for this:

In 8 games vs. SEC teams this season, Florida QB Kyle Trask has 34 passing TDs and only 3 INTs. In his ENTIRE CAREER vs. SEC teams, UT QB Jarrett Guarantano has 26 passing TDs and 12 INTs in 29 total games.

2019 SC was 41
2020 SC was 31 & MO was 35

I was thinking about HT's pick 6 in the 2020 SC game
As others noted, there were two non-offensive TD's in the 2019 USCe game.

I believe this year's Mizzou game was the only game JG has led a UT O to more than 30 points vs an FBS opponent. If you really think about that fact... it is truly pathetic and makes Pruitt's decision to stick with him coaching malpractice.

It's crazy to think that all he had to do was play a different quarterback and we would have been understanding of losses.
Other than the obvious failure why is he so hell bent on continuing to torment the fan base . JG has had ample opportunities to show anything. He hasn’t. Maybe it’s time for divorce court

One positive thing I can say for Butch and Pruitt during their tenures is they developed punters at an alarming rate. We are guaranteed to go 3 and out, part of the reason we are still recruiting All-American punters consistently.

No, legs are shot by the end of their college eligibility.

We scored 41 points against S Carolina last year, thanks to blocked punt and punt return TDs. So the offense scored 27.
Most complete game of the Pruitt era outside of Auburn. We played complimentary football the way it’s supposed to be played that afternoon. People want to go off on the coaching staff this season, and rightfully so, but look at who were the difference makers that day. Jennings was a mad man per usual, Calloway scored on a deep ball and a punt return and Bituli blocked and recovered a punt for a TD. Not only are we missing those guys on the stat sheet, but those guys were leaders on the field and in the locker room. We’re missing that so much this season and that falls on everyone. From the Head guy on down to the players .

Those coaches had Tyler Bray and Josh Dobbs (both in the NFL). Pruitt has Jerod Guantanomo. End of discussion.

That’s a good point, but the key question remains about signing and developing QBs. JG doesn’t seem any better than when he arrived. CJP does not think HB, BM and JTS are ready either. The team cannot improve without at least an average QB.

If HB starts the remaining games, does that impact KS’s decision to sign early?

Seniors making plays. We have none of that on this team.
