Pruitt would accept bowl at 5-7

Not particularly adept in the classroom or on the field. What a program. Sticking up for them, I would declare that as a player for this university I would want no part of another month of practicing and accumulating miles on the frame for no reason.
I see you know almost nothing about football, experience, hard work, pride, self esteme, experience, or anything else associated with success.

As a fan I would hate us being in a bowl with only 5 wins. We’re already the laughing stock of the SEC and that would only make it worse. As a coach... I would accept an invite no matter what the record is. It gives the kids more practice and it also gives them postseason experience to carry over into next year.

BJs boys wanting the season to be over too. Just like half of VN

Sorry, butt the Season is already over. Just a few VFL's don't understand it. It has reached "embarrassing" and needs to be shut down. What next, is there anyway a 4-8 team can go to a Bowl......Please oh Please...………….I wonder if everyone gets a trophy in a 5-7 Bowl???

Still don’t understand why football fans don’t want to watch their team play more football games. The season is pretty short as it is. Wouldn’t it be about the same as having a losing record at the mid-point of the season and saying, well we’re not very good, we don’t deserve to play anymore games this year.

It's not that you and everyone else with your opinion is wrong , it's just that there's still 1 or 2 of us that used to hold a bowl game in high regard and you had to bring your A game all year to get there. Not everyone could be national champs, but you earned a spot on national TV after the season was over .It was a reward for the team pushing themselves and they had something to be proud of for being there. Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl screams " Oh you got Ds on your report card again, sigh, be sure to lock the front door when you get home tonight and remember you have school tomorrow. I'm going to bed early." " I know I promised you a surprise if you didn't fail any classes , so there's a new Iphone on the kitchen table " Don't get arrested "

I do go to the games. I tail gate, drink a lot, eat a lot and then go marvel at the debacle. I'm invested, just no visions of grandeur on this team winning out or even winning another game this season. Doesn't mean a don't want them to or support them...…….. I just have a dose of reality. That dose aint pretty but I have to sux it up and take it for what it is...…….

Is even even allowed to decline it if the invitation was given. Thought the SEC required teams to accept bowl invites.

Now that there's a December signing period, it might change the game a little on bowls for schools like us that desperately need recruits. When the only signing day was in February, you take the bowl no matter what. Now, though, you'd have to really weigh it all out.

Not sure if the SEC requires you to accept it or not but a couple years ago Texas said they would decline a bowl invite at 5-7, which was why Mississippi State got in at 5-7 one year.

I understand the opinion of it being a reward for a good season. However, I feel like one the massive expansion happened in the number of bowl games, it seems that all of these games are just exhibitions now. Especially now that the playoff has been established, really only those games matter in the grand scheme of things, as far as playing for something. With well more than half the teams going to bowls now, I would be fine with letting every team go to a bowl and truly thinking of them as exhibitions. The playoff could take their teams and just schedule all the other teams to play the extra game and get the practice.

Probably won't get that chance.
If we get the 5th win and coupled with the way that UT fans travel and support our team, I'd say we would get the nod. At the end of the day its about making money for the bowl committees.

Why is APR used to determine bowl eligibility of a 5-7 team? We will never have as good an APR as a team like Northwestern, but our SOS is way harder then theirs.
We beat the crap out of all those tier 2 big 10 teams anyway. Not even close.

If we get an "Invite", hell yes we should go. Remember, bowls committees take a lot of things into consideration, such as, will their fans travel?($$$$$) They aren't actually based on "best teams". There are so many bowls, the 5 win season bowl is going to be even more common if the moratorium on new bowls is lifted.

My response would be “ we’re going 7-5 and according to SEC bowl berths, I’d expect to be in a bowl.” But that’s just me.

Does UT play a high school team before the years out to get that 5th win?
