Two blowout wins against BYU & UTC will have the very fans I was referencing predicting us into the playoffs.I’m don’t think people will give him a reset if we barely win. I think the leash won’t be as tight but given what happened vs GSU, Pruitt’s “standing” is truly a week by week thing. If we come out and win big vs BYU, things will be better. If we can put two big blowout wins vs BYU/UTC, people will be cautiously optimistic going into UF week.
It all hinges on QB play for me.

I’ve said since last year we’d struggle to win 6 this year, and that if we did we should be thankful.I don’t see that at all. Maybe a crazy minority but my personal expectations were anywhere from 7-9 wins counting a bowl game.
With that said and after GSU loss, I’m at 6 wins and bowl result TBD. i think two blowout wins are needed to make that a reality but I don’t think that means we are gonna upset multiple teams....
Hahaha does he think he his Saban ? How bout getting to a bowl before you start casting demands on the fan base .Much has been discussed of Pruitt getting roasted by the local and national media after laying an absolute egg in week 1. When you win, the coach can treat the media that covers the team anyway he wants with little repercussions. Pruitt has seen this from the HC at his previous "successful" stops. Because as we all know, winning cures all ills. What Pruitt is getting a lesson in right now is what happens when you are an arrogant blow-hard that brings a team out looking like trash in a season opener. Those media folks don't have to hold back on their assessment. The reporters have nothing to fear by calling the team and their performance exactly what it was. And that's exactly what is/was happening.
The bad news for Pruitt is this. He also has very few supporters outside the media. Again - no big deal if you're winning. But it's disastrous if you're a failure.
Here's my story. Late last summer I was in Knoxville watching kids play baseball at Lindsey Nelson. It just so happened that the football team was across the street running some station drills. Nothing special, 10 mins and blow a whistle and rotate. Optimism was still high with the Vol faithful because a new coach was in town bringing hope to a battered fanbase. Well, not long after the football team took the field, 2 college kids were running up and down the street and inside Lindsey Nelson telling kids and their parents that Coach Pruitt sent them to tell everyone that they were having a closed practice and no one could look at the field. I mean seriously. The job of these two goons was to run around telling people to look away - we couldn't gaze upon the sacred field on Pruitt's word.
My thought's on this ludicrous behavior? What a completely self-absorbed tool. I mean really. This guy is telling people to look away - not because they are scheming up some trick plays for the 3rd Saturday in October - this was a run-of-the-mill position station practice. What kind of person tells kids they can't look over at the practice field?
So much like how he's alienated the media - he's alienated the fans. Plenty of people have similar stories of this pompous coach. So when they played like trash on Saturday, my first thought was "what a loser" based on that day last summer. If he had any connection with the fan-base at all maybe I'd be willing to think "it's year two, give the guy a break".
Good luck Pruitt. You're gonna need it. But frankly, you're a victim of your own making.
You can't see the field from the baseball stadium unless you get right up next to the fence to look under the black tarp.
I can understand not wanting people to do that.
Jones far surpasses Pruitt in the Marketing dept. There wasn’t much behind it, but he at least tried to engage the public.Much has been discussed of Pruitt getting roasted by the local and national media after laying an absolute egg in week 1. People only get their feelings hurt when the coach doesn't win.One of the biggest issues with the UT fan base is that they expect a coach that makes them feel all warm and fuzzy. Stop being so easily offended and put your feelings away. Criticize the coach for not doing his job if you must, but remember his job isn’t to make you feel a certain way.

I felt inclined to share a story about Pruitt. If you choose not to believe it, so be it. As a life-long Vol, after getting our tails spanked last weekend, I was completely .................................
