I agree. If they have a "normal" spring and fall camp, and the team is not notably better in 2021, then he has to go. We should see Fulmer "retire" as well. I am not going to speak one way or the other as to my confidence of that happening because it doesn't matter.
I will say that I don't think the team is as far away as lot of people on the board think it is. I believe the defense would play (and has played) much better if/when the offense could compete in time of possession and actually score enough to keep the team in the games. The offense's issues are obviously manifested in the QB play, but I am not sure if QB play is dictating philosophy or vice versa. It is a chicken or the egg sort of situation.
Of course, all of this falls on the shoulders of the HC, and he has yet to prove anything. But, I disagree with those that see the program in total disfunction.
I’m not an apologist, but there are no cupcakes on the schedule this year. Butch’s year three was smoke and mirrors. Go back and look at that weak schedule.Just a guess, but Butch at least gave the appearance of an upward trajectory through his first three seasons both on the field and in recruiting and year four was set up to be special if he’d not lost to Arky and Vandy. Pruitt has regressed and nothing really looks better now.
AV, LA Vol, people who have the pulse of UT all seem to think Pruitt isn’t the long term answer so why are we waiting? If everyone believes that then begin lining up the replacement and make the move. Waiting makes zero sense..
I’m usually a sunshine type on here but I’m done with Pruitt..
2020 has been a crapshoot with COVID. Hiring is a crapshoot no matter how good you think they are - see Harbaugh, Herman, and Frost. If Pruitt can work out an offensive identity we know we’ll have a good defense (eventually). Surely as he gets more experienced the administration part of being a HC will get easier. Curious to see the rest of the season, how recruiting finishes, and his offseason moves. Hopefully even if COVID is still around they’ll figure out how to have spring practice and summer workouts so this will be the only asterisk year. Pruitt could still end up being a good coach for us.
Let’s hope you’re wrong and he’s fired ASAP.Pruitt isn’t going anywhere after this season unless he resigns or get another job. Neither one of those is likely to happen. So it is what it is.
The ‘21 season will be the litmus test. I don’t know where the bar is set, but I do believe that Pruitt will enter next season on the hot seat.
I think we are stuck with the latter until we are done paying three HC salaries at a time.We have all seen things that make us want to question our support of Pruitt.
Some legitimate, some not.
Changing out coaches every few years with other coaches in the same price range has not worked.
Go BIG and run with the big dogs
Or keep what we have and hope for improvement.
Pruitt has been on the hot seat since Ga St but the last 5-6 games of last year gave a lot of people false hope. You have to be afraid for Tenn to fire Pruitt because you know whoever they hire is going to be just like what they fired,Pruitt isn’t going anywhere after this season unless he resigns or get another job. Neither one of those is likely to happen. So it is what it is.

Pruitt is the man alright, he did not get the memo that this was a free year. He did not have enough sense to take advantage of it and start playing HB after the Ga game. I bet people are not worried about Bama coming after Pruitt now.Pruitt is the man..............play Harrison Bailey because the year is a wash out anyway. Bailey is our hope for the future ..........start now while he can play for free(year doesn't count against him)..............WHAT HAVE WE GOT TO LOSE ? OH YEAH..TELL CHANEY HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE BUFFET, AND PULL HIS CHAIR UP TO THE BUFFET !!!!
Should we give him a free pass for going into yet another lost season without getting a grad transfer or juco as a plan B for JG? He's seen this movie before ..several times. JGs performance can't be a surprise. They also knew perfectly well what they had with Maurer and Shrout yet they stood pat with JG. Under the circumstances, it's a little hard to let them use his performance as an excuse. This team...both make up and performance...is due to the efforts of this head coach and staff. The buck stops with them. It's why they're paid such enormous salaries. Sorry but this is on Pruitt and co. Covid or no .Just being realistic. It’s his 3rd season. COVID. He’s Fulmer’s hire. Buyout is 12 mil plus. JG can’t hit a barn from the inside. Any one of those will get Pruitt the ‘21 season.
