Pruitt replacement speculation article

Some of us seem to think we decide which coach we want and we offer him a boatload of money and he comes. That ain't happening. And all this stuff (NCAA, firing coach after coach, lawsuits etc etc etc) is really really bad for the football program and will have massive effects on trying to hire another proven coach. Football is way down my list of priorities so I won't lose a second of sleep over it but for many these next few days, weeks, and maybe months will be miserable for some.

Agreed.
With that said, I'd still take Chadwell.

Louisiana was significantly more talented then Coastal Carolina this season.
Yet Chadwells boys beat them .

He was 2a Time finalist for FCS coach of the year.
Now at FBS he is Coach of the Year.

He's been good for a while...
Chadwell was SC's next pick behind Beamer. Heard he owned the room in interview. I'd be happy with him.

I can't imagine anyone with a bright future taking this job with no athletic director and potential sanctions. It will be no name or, worse, already proven terrible. I really think an interim may be a better option.
Chadwell strikes me as having the swagger and charisma similar to Lane without the commitment issues... he just might have the balls to attempt it god bless his soul.

Doug Marrone, Jeff Fisher or insert other NFL coach here.
Do Not Want Freeze, Napier, Chad well, Malzahn, Clark, or any other college coach.
NFL coach or bust.

I’ve found the best hard ass HC out there to slap our roster of players into championship competitors....
The West Canaan, Texas High School Coyotes own Head Coach Bud Kilmer.

Here’s my requirements:
1)head coaching experience
2)bright offensive mind
3)apparently they have to be squeaky clean.

I would start with Campbell and make him say no. He will but you start at the top and work down. Napier I think they can get and would be good.

Hearing Napier been on some boosters radar for awhile, clean program, won everywhere he’s been. I don’t know how I feel about that choice.

1. Freeze
2. kiffin
3. Napier
4. Chadwell
5. Fickel

Any of those and I’m ready to roll
I think 1-3 are not realistic. 5 is unlikely as well.

1. As a school about to be put on probation, we aren't going to hire a coach who was responsible for putting his previous school on probation. People need to let the Freeze speculation go. It ain't happening.

2. Kiffin would certainly come here and I think he would win but come on. We aren't about to hire a coach who left us at the altar 10 years ago. Sadly our administration has too much pride to forget that. I won't say this one is impossible, never say never I guess but I believe this ship has sailed. At best I'd say it's a long shot. Even IF we were willing to listen to his pitch, he would have to charm the hell out of our administration and probably be willing to accept a lower salary.

3. Napier is a very good coach and I'd love to have him here. However he will turn us down. Many speculate that he's waiting on the LSU job.

4. Chadwell is the most likely candidate on your list and I would not be opposed to that hire. I really like him and his teams play hard. He's also used to winning with less talent which is certainly a skill we need in a head coach right now. My only concern with Chadwell is he has to have a mobile QB to run his offense effectively and as we saw with Malzahn's offense that's difficult to sustain.

5. Fickell. I dont think he would be interested in coming here. Hes a northern, Big 10 guy and word is he's next in line for the Ohio State job when it opens up.

A few other names that are absolutely going to get close looks are Tom Herman, Gus Malzahn, Doug Marrone, and Bill O'Brian. Any one of those would be instant upgrades over Pruitt. Yes, even Marrone, though I wouldn't want him.

Sorry if already posted. Speculation story by Fansided on possible replacements for Pruitt.

Tennessee football: 5 coaching replacements for Jeremy Pruitt

5. Kevin Steele, Tennessee
4. Lance Leipold, Buffalo
3. Scott Satterfield, Louisville
2. Jamey Chadwell, Coastal Carolina
1. Billy Napier, Louisiana
At least Satterfield has recuiting ties in the Carolinas. Leipold is what...mid 50'S? Been in the NE his entire career or most of it, no? Don't see the fit there.

I dont buy that. What ties did Urban Meyer have to the southeast when he came from Utah? If you can coach and build relationships, I don't think it matters where you come from.

I would take Satterfield over Leipold.

I want a guy that can scheme and develop. Seems like every coach we’ve hired the last 10 years has been for their recruiting connections

Problem with guys that win with less talent is that they bring that less talent with them. I'll pass.

Yeah. All of those guys would at least have a chance to succeed.

Kiffin and Freeze would succeed here almost for sure. Either of them would deliver 10 wins within 3 years.
