CPF had a very stern discussion with CJP, he made sure Pruitt knew that was inappropriate behavior and to try and be more productive. CJP took it very well, and reflected on his decisions and actions and promised he would work on being a better HC, and appreciated CPF's candid and honest feedback...........it was harsh, but needed.Cause he went 3-7. JMO.

Go Vols!
They are the only in-state school when it comes to recruiting in a talent rich state. Georgia Tech isn't a factor.
They also border the state of Florida.
I'm beginning to think this guy would argue a square peg through a round hole if he could. He has no proof that Leach is a bad coach and just offers up a baseless opinion. And he has accused others of mental gymnastics when he's clearly the one who has used it the entire night.
I'm sure he was against Leach being hired here because Leach didn't fit his Tennessee values. I think that's all it boils down to.
You aren’t leaving any room for a job to become a better job.
LSU is a better job today than it was when they hired Saban and Miles. They’ve won a Natty under 3 different HCs in my lifetime. That’s damn good. They are top 5. Easy.
Clemson is a better job today than when they hired Dabo. Georgia is better today than when they hired Richt. Auburn isn’t great job as long as Saban in at Bama, so I agree there.
Oh, now I get it. Recruiting base/competition are the keys to the best CFB jobs and national championships. Makes perfect sense...except for the fact that Georgia hasn't won a natty since 1980 and only 1 SEC championship in the last 15 years. Hell, Tech can claim a natty since the dawgs can...so can we!
The top 5 blue chip recruiting states 2013-2017 (not doing more research than that) produced 53% of all 4 and 5 star recruits. They were Texas (229), Florida (227), California (199), Georgia (141), and Ohio (79). Yet only 20% of national champions came from those states in the last 10 years.
Auburn ('10), Alabama ('11, '12, '15, and '17), FSU ('13), OSU ('14), Clemson ('16 & '18), and LSU ('19).
ZERO national champions were from Texas/California/Georgia (569 out of 875 blue chippers - 65%). South Carolina (with 2 P5 schools) only produced 2% (28) of all blue chippers but won 20% of the national championships. Alabama produced 3.5% (59) but won 60% of the titles.
I'd say recruiting base means a helluva lot less than the coach does.
Alabama sucked before Saban, Scam (and a little OC Gus) is the only reason Auburn won in '10, and Clemson backed into Dabo after firing the least of the Bowden's - he certainly wasn't in demand as a hot coach and they were really iffy about keeping him after his interim success...a lot like lovable Coach O, who as we saw this year, rode Joe Burrow, Dave Aranda (DC), and 13 NFL draft picks (thanks, Les!) to the natty. Look at how bad FSU's been since Jimbo left (14-20). Has the talent pool in FL suddenly declined or has Miami become relevant again? Nope.
Most of you guys that mock TN as a top 15 job seem to be rating the other schools' coaches success - not the jobs themselves. Georgia is not a better job than Tennessee. Georgia got lucky hiring Kirby after firing Richt for not being able to win the big one. The hottest young head coach prospect before Kirby was his buddy Will Mushcamp. He was Texas's DC and HC in waiting behind Mack Brown when Florida hired him. How'd that work out for Florida...or South Carolina?
Bama sucked between Stallings and Saban. SoCal has been a cluster duck since Carroll left after 2009 (even with all those in-state blue chippers).
I get it. We're HORRIBLE! But don't be all BUTT HURT over it and say we're not a top job. We've just had a horribe run of poor leadership in the administration and the head coaches office.
We have the potential to be a top job. But right now, we are not. If we were, a top coach would have taken the job rather than the 3 clowns we’ve hired.Oh, now I get it. Absolutely. Much stronger HS football and recruiting base. We've certainly improved and the mid state in TN is growing. Problem is that the folks moving in aren't necessarily UT fans. Makes for a harder sell. UT will always need to pick up talent from other states. Having said that if we part with Pruitt, we certainly need a coach who can out scheme the opposition as well as do more with less talent. Coaching kids up is a common refrain, but in our case, it's a must. Fans just need to recognize that when it comes to coaches, UT isn't that desirable a job for the "proven/big name" guys. If Freeze and Kiffin are off the table, I'm glad I don't have to make the next hire. I'm not seeing anyone else out there that's realistic who I'd consider a can't miss coach for this league.Basically, I'm saying it's easier to win at Georgia than it is Tennessee. If you don't agree, sorry.
If you don’t think LSU, UGA, Auburn, and A&M are top 14 jobs, then I don’t know what to tell you. How about this, you list the top 14 coaching jobs in America.
Is this serious? Facilities, in state talent, competent administration, the actual university is better than Tennessee, no self absorbed twitter fan base, competent media coverage, better college town, but more importantly a program that isn't a mess
Jobs that should be big winners based on money, fan base, recruiting base, location and history, in no particular order:
Alabama
Southern Cal
Notre Dame
Florida
Florida State
Texas
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Michigan
Penn State
Tennessee
Miami
LSU
UGA
After some thought and analysis, I'll cave on LSU and UGA.
Honorable mention to Auburn (about to fall off a cliff...shouldda kept Gus), Ok St ($$$), and UCLA (how can someone NOT build a winner here?).
Clemson is all Dabo's success. Again, they hired Tommy West from the Mocs. Put Dabo in Knoxville instead of Clemson in 2008 and we're in the playoffs this year.
A&M's has to play Bama, LSU and Auburn every year (plus wildcards Kiffin and Leach). Is Sumlin really that bad a coach? A lot of people on here sure wanted him. Reality is that A&M is always going to be in Texas' and Oklahoma's shadow. Plus they can look forward to the dumpster fire that Jimbo will leave behind him (like he did at FSU).

no we dont because we have too many redneck fans with a voice who think they know more about football than those in charge.
Snapshot in time of a program doesn't make it a top job or not. They fired Richt after being unhappy with his .740 win rate and got lucky as hell with Kirby (will his .780 keep them happy forever?). Not all hotshot DC's turn out to be great HC's, as we know.
We have top facilities. Back when Phil worked, we got more stars out of GA than they did.
Competent Administration...don't know about competent, but a helluva lot better than ours. Didn't they have a fairly recent AD issue?
Better college town? Hillier than Knoxville and only one hwy in/out.
Competent media coverage? I don't get it. As in ESPN doesn't hate them?

who said just on social media? grown men painting their own request on the student's rock. patheticThis is ridiculous. We fans only have a voice and audience with.......each other. If anybody who matters gives even one second of their time worrying about posts on social media forums like this, they shouldn’t be in the job to begin with.
