Someone stated the extensions have to be approved by higher-ups so is Fulmer 100% to blame.
Some of you are not thinking like a coach, IMO.
If I am the head coach at Clemson, what's my major obstacle to success?
If I am the head coach at Oregon, what's my major obstacle to success?

I’m hoping Freeze as well but how has he been publicly campaigning for the job?Fulmer won't be making any decisions. He'll only be the messenger. I think this is THE PERFECT opportunity to get Freeze and here's why. He wants to be here, publicly campaigning for the job. Tennessee holds all the cards given his past transgressions. UT can shape that contract almost anyway they want with regard to "morality" clauses, buyouts, NCAA compliance standards, etc.. where we are not negatively impacted financially or otherwise if we have to part ways with him. Basically, we get to look over his shoulder at every turn. If he doesn't like those terms, then you take a look at Napier, Chadwell, Fleck, et al. But whatever we do, we don't "experiment" anymore. Oregon is built on the back of NikeOregon has no recruiting base and outside the Chip Kelly era they've never been an elite team. At Clemson you're a 2nd tier program that is probably the 2nd most popular team in your state that caught lightning in a bottle with Dabo Swinney and has benefited greatly from Tennessee and South Carolina hiring idiots the past few years.
Which is my reason for stating it’s not on Fulmer 100%. If had to be signed off by higher-ups.I wouldn't know how to apportion blame. I will just say that coaching contracts are part of his job, and I don't think it would have happened without his participation or approval, if not his origination of the deal. So his judgment is definitely implicated. I'd be surprised if the negotiations didn't start with him.
South Carolina resident here, you’re nuts if you think they’re the second most popular program in the state. They have more fans than USCe and it isn’t close. It was like that before they were good too.Oregon has no recruiting base and outside the Chip Kelly era they've never been an elite team. UF is one of the top five jobs in the country. Yet over the past two decades they’ve had to settle for the DC of the New Orleans Saints, the DC at Texas, the HC from Colorado State, and the HC from Mississippi State. Not exactly a who’s who of the coaching profession. And yet the past 3 coaches we've gotten are Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt. So if it's a Top 10 job, why do we not attract Top 10 talent?
Clemson: the biggest challenge to success is how to out recruit Saban. Period. Some of you are not thinking like a coach, IMO.

I have to admit this is excellent point. It is true for almost every question or issue when it come to comparing programs and similar discussions: ALWAYS THINK LIKE A COACH!! Get the fan bias out of your view and look at it like a coach. Most coaches base their decisions on a cold, calculating, non fanboy, “what is the path of least resistance”viewpoint. Some of you are not thinking like a coach, IMO.
