Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

The point of using the census designations was because they take into account the suburb nature of a big city population, you can't just add Birmingham in because it's not like large swaths of commuters are travelling from t-town to Birmingham five days a week for work. They are two different statistical areas and communities.

Your conclusion is total BS and how much would you like to bet on Tuscaloosa commuters heading to Birmingham five days a week to work? I live in Alabama. I’m not pulling BS data out of my azz like you are. You are the epitome of subjectivity. The flood of vehicles heading to Tuscaloosa from Birmingham metro on game day is an interstate traffic nightmare.

I haven’t followed along bc I think this issue is stupid and can’t believe anyone have it a second thought

I am supportive of Pruitt. Just didn't think he needed to make the comment. The attendance was on par with every other spring game we have had. It's not like fans didn't show up. Our fans will show up when the games matter.

So in other words, he is right that the fans need to show up, but he needs to have kid gloves on when handling fragile vol fans battered egos. Sounds like a program ready to step into the realm of the elites.

So the team isnt ready to step into the realm of the elites because of fans, lol....have you seen them play?

I didn't say it was better for fans to not try to create excitement. Didn't say he had failed anywhere either.

Sound reasoning skills are a thing of the past. Our fan base is clear proof

I just don't have a problem with him trying to get help from every possible angle. The quote isn't a big deal and this board is a sign of how soft and sensitive society has gotten.

Players and recruits are much different nowadays and he feels a better turnout would have helped now and in recruiting. Whats wrong with asking for it and calling it out?

Ok Pruitt, you made your point now let it go.

CPJ would have not been upset with the fan turnout if it had been anywhere near the reported 65,000.
It looked to more like high 30's to low 40's in actual attendance.:mf_surrender:

Nah.

If it's true that lower bowl is ~70k, then attendance was 60k or more.

They may have padded the number a bit, but not by much.

It's all about marketing. Announcing 65K normally would be a "feelz good" going into the football dead period...until Pruitt wound up some people. :)

Giving a damn about Spring football game attendance is a relatively new thing. I'd be willing to bet that most schools exaggerate the attendance figure...some more than others.

By the time August rolls around hopefully those offended will have moved on and we can all get ready for practice to begin.

BTW, welcome to the board.

Waving a white flag in this thread will only draw attention to yourself . Move slowly and try not to make sudden movements that will trigger a strike 😂

That's with every seat occupied. In the section you were in was every seat taken or was there room to spread out? You can put about 35K in the lower bowl and make it look full given how narrow the seats are.

Still, it looked like a great crowd on TV...regardless of the actual number.

My god, I was talking about the size of the town that each school is in, I wasn't talking about the proximity of the nearest major city you Moran. Its very easy for anyone with a brain to understand that Knoxville is a larger city than Tuscaloosa, I'm not really sure why you are arguing this with me.

Because it really isn't by much. But we've beat this dead horse.

Ok let's get technical, Tuscaloosa has a population of 99,000. Knoxville alone is 186,000 that's almost double, my point still stands that there are more people living near Neyland that weren't there. 75,000 in a town of 99,000 versus 65,000 in town of 186,000 which looks better?

Y'all still lookin for something to be upset about? smh...

Correct. Plenty on here are gone turn every molehill into a mountain for their own reasons....from Fulmer hating to “Pruitt is a Bammer”. Buckle up, they ain’t going away anytime soon.

Dooley was honest but a bad football coach.

Butch wasn’t honest and a bad football coach.

Pruitt is honest and has potential to be a great HC.

Whoever wants fun & games, might as well just kept Butch.

Whoever wants a tough minded coach who only cares about winning, support Pruitt.

Not every coach in America is going to be sh*tting out unicorns & rainbows.

And Knoxville is a town with more people than just UT fans. It is home to corporate headquarters of Pilot, JT Hackney, Magnavox, and more. That brings in outside people who aren't UT fans. Tuscaloosa has Dreamland BBQ.

Just because a town has some more doesn't mean the people there will support the school. UT is a state university, and most of west TN is all orange. Many of those people aren't traveling for the spring game. They do travel in the fall. It's just not apples to apples. If Nashville were 58 miles from Knoxville, my guess is you would see more. See Birmingham.

Yeah, bit of a tempest in a teapot IMHO. But don't we all deserve a trophy for participating in this thread?
