Pruitt not benching JG. Says he’s the best QB on the roster

Bailey isn't going nowhere and isn't afraid of competition. He'll come in and compete and win the job, without it being handed to him. I really feel like he's the only one who will threaten JG for the top spot. It will not be safe next year for JG. He'll probably end up splitting time at 1st. But, HB will play, and play early. CJP is building for the future and HB is the key to that future.

If they are trying to find the right starting QB for now and future why would anyone care who it is. I don't care if it is Maurer or Strout. If either can play QB well and can lead this team to wins then that is what we are looking for. If Bailey can come in next year and win the job or one of the transfers, I don't care. I still think we have seen enough of JG to know he cannot get it done.

So far, Pruitt has played 10 true freshmen. Three have started. Two of those have started both games.

But he refuses to play his redshirt freshman QB who has been with him for two years and is his own recruit.

If UT wins 3 or 4 games this year with JG going all the way and JG still starts next year, then JP is worse than Dooley or Butch.

Lol you can't compare Hurts and Tua to JG though. The amount of talent they're surrounded by is night and day difference from JG's situation. Especially when it comes to O line play. Again I'm not defending JG in the sense that I think he's an awesome Qb. I'm just saying he might really be the best we have right now. He has the arm strength to make most throws. Where he falls short is the ability to go through WR progressions. It seems like he takes the snap, stares down his 1st option, decides whether he wants to try and squeeze it in there, and if not he immediately goes to his checkdown. We have receiver's coming open, it's frustrating knowing JG is sometimes not even looking in their direction.

JG won't be here next year. Either portal or decides like an idiot to enter the draft

My reaction to this is, then why were Scholarships given to JT and Brian if they arent as good if not better? They were rated 4 stars I believe, JG was a 4 star. If Jim Chaney, who has coached up some great QBs in his past, has to call special plays just for JG, since JG cant go down the field, then thats a problem. I would rather lose trying with a new QB that will feel excited, and give it his all, JG doesnt, he lives in the past play, if its a bad play, he just cant get out of whatever funk he is in. By this time already, he should have shown much more improvement over last year, and he looks like he has regressed, not progressed. Wow, so that really is a huge concern.

I'm going to predict that Florida will the last game for JG. He will either get hurt from so many sacks or his playing will be so bad Pruitt won't have a choice.

HB may be good but let's wait till he gets some playing time against D1 athletes. Elite gets thrown around way to much on this site especially before the players even get on campus.

My point was changing OC is simply an excuse..Did Tua regress..Drew Lock lit us up with a new OC (Dooley)..Will Fromm regress this year since he lost Chaney..While I agree Ala has more talent than us, not sure its night and day..Its more like our talent vs KY, MO, USC, Vandy...Our talent vs GA St and BYU would be a night and day difference for sure! I want JG to succeed but after 4 yrs and no progress....I would say our receiving corps of Jennings, Calloway, Palmer, etc would start for at least 10 other SEC schools..Our OL of Kennedy, Tatum, Smith, Morris, etc may also..This team is playing worse that last yrs yet they returned 16 starters! The most in the SEC! If Maurer is no better than what we are seeing then why offer him a scholarship? We now know why the JJ debacle occured a few yrs back and why he wanted to play QB..I believe with all my heart if we had changed QBs last Sat nite we win. Its time for JG to play up to his ability!
