Pruitt not benching JG. Says he’s the best QB on the roster

By that logic that means Tua Tagoviola would be gone as Saban replaced Barnett with true freshman Jalen Hurts at QB! Didnt work that way did it? I dont think players are afraid of competition, in fact most treasure it! (Unless youre one of those that takes his football and goes home if he doesnt get his way)
Don't forget Georgia (Eason, Fromm, Fields), Clemson (Bryant, Lawrence), and others.

Ah so Harrison told you he is out of Maurer plays?
Good to know, cause I thought he had concerns because the coaches are sticking with players that arent effective over younger players who could provide a spark if given a chance.
Trust me, Harrison has little actual concern with being able to beat out anyone on the roster, if given a fair shot next year.
But then I guess next year the UT staff will play an ineffective QB, in order to appease a QB recruit in the 2021 class.
You don’t get it because you don’t want to. I can’t change that. If you can come up with a better explanation of why it’s best not to at least open the qb competition and cap it off with a game with UTC then be my guest. The floor is yours

By yours you’re basically saying Dobbs should’ve never seen the field?

Explain then how any other school in the nation can start a freshman and be goid, but we can't? It literally happens every single year.

We’ve already done it time and time again.

Ainge, Schaffer, Manning, Clausen, Stewart

Not sure why every JG defender acts like it’s unthinkable.

I've read thoughts in the forum that one reason not to bench JG is that he will pout and hit the transfer portal right away leaving us no experienced QB. Well what if the back-ups get tired of sitting behind this turd and do the same. What will happen when JG gets hurt? Why should they stay when Pruitt keeps saying they are not good enough. Then next year another hot shot rookie is coming in so will they even get a shot then ? Do we care if JG leaves. No it's his choice and he has shown that he is a me first person. It's time to open it up and lets see next man up. The same as he would do for any other position on the team.

We must protect these fragile egos of this 1-11 worst team in UT history above all!!

Some of the lemons may decide to leave if not. The horror. 😱

Tennessee could be looking at a 1-6 start to the 2019 season and if that is the case, CJP should be giving Shrout or Maurer some snaps.

What must Shrout and Maurer think, when they see the garbage qb of JG; and hear Pruitt say JG is the best we have, actually he didn't really say jg is best; he said we all know who the best qb is, leaving a little way out there. But I assume he was speaking of jg; but hope not.

They have better freshmen. I’m assuming your talking about the ALA and CLEM of the world. Don’t see many 3 star FR succeeding in the SEC.

I wished JG would leave. I realize he is not the only problem on the team, but he is the biggest problem imo.

I can do one better. I’m watching Alvin Karma tear apart the Texans defense. Remember him? He sat the bench at UT in favor of a now WR.

How about Manning? Forced in due to injury from third on the DC. Which means his coaches thought 2 other QBs gave them a better chance to win. I can do this all day. The point is the coaches don’t always get it right and you’ll never know what’s on your sidelines if you never put them under the lights.

You said that by playing Maurer, HB may not sign with us (which most people recognize as a ludicrous statement)..Now somehow youve changed it to Josh Dobbs...Dobbs played because Worley got hurt which has NOTHING to do with your illogical reasoning on why Maurer should not play..

Joey Matthews to AJ Suggs to Clausen.

Took off after Clausen was installed.

More than them, Auburn, and Ga. has, we played one Sat. if I'm not mistaken he was a freshman, and they beat us of course byu not in sec though. I am sure there are more out there, just can't think right now. and JG started in his freshman year.

BTW...I’m not defending JG. I think he’s playing scared. He’s not a pro-style QB and is trying to show he is. He was a DT QB out of HS committing Butch’s scheme. If he wants to be effective he needs to use his legs more and break the pocket to make things happen.

But, I do trust CJP assessment of the situation.

If they played Maurer and he sealed up the job as a freshman then Yes.... why would HB sign when he’s good enough to play faster somewhere else?

He has no legs. He’s a turtle.

I agree there are FR QBs. But his statement was how can other teams start them and be good. They are not all good and BYUs kid doesn’t have to play in the SEC.

I think Miller is a sophomore actually but he did start as a freshman if I’m not mistaken

And why would we need him if Maurer takes off with the game, which I think he will. I have only seen him in orange and white game and I saw great potential. If he doesn't get to play this yr. he transfers and we lose what I think to be a very good qb, a true duel threat which all the really good teams in college have as qb now.
