People are just pissed. We want to win. Most take him at his word but some see what he’s doing. It’s not that JG is better. He’s playing that card so he doesn’t lose Bailey. He sees JG isn’t working. So does HB. If he makes a change to Maurer he knows things are likely to get better. But that move alone costs him 2 qbs for next year bring him to 3 instead of the 5 he expects. It’s strategy

Gotta give the other QB's a shot against UTC. A quality shot. Anything less, and you'll wish you had when JG gets knocked out against (pick the SEC opponent). The 2019 dumpster fire has already started. So try to put it out, or watch it burn. JG is 8-15 as a starter if my numbers are right. At some point, you have to cut your losses, or at least try to minimize them.

UT Football is at that point.

Anyway I understand your frustration with JG. We got lucky that Bentley got hurt. I wish him nothing but the best but he was not getting the job done. Very similar situations with both those guys. Played behind terrible lines and got their heads knocked off early in their careers. They both have the tools but are shell shocked and will never recover.

So the logic that the head coach continues to play an upperclassman over younger players even though the younger players are better, in order to appeal to someone that will be a younger player on the team next year (and who likely thinks he is good enough to beat out anyone else in front of him if given a chance) makes sense to you? You do know JG is going to be back (barring transfer) next year, right? But there is a behind the scenes deal that JG would be benched next year, for HB? How does this work exactly?

Jalen Hurts is on his 4th OC in 4 yrs...Tua Tagoviolia is on his 3rd OC in 3 yrs..Drew Lock had at least 3 OC..and the transition from high school to college with not only a new OC, but a new team and environment is the toughest transition of all..Yet we see many frosh QBs do this....I can name you 10 that had no problem and looked better than JG does in his 4th yr..One would have to believe that most QBs with 4 yrs of experience wouldnt be throwing into triple coverage, and be able to read a defense..Is this you Erik Ainge?

They're 2 games into their freshman year. Shrout is a redshirt, but still... they're not exactly close to being busts.

If he is the best then that doesn’t say much for the other QB’s. Why try them at this point because we will be lucky to win 2 or 3 games! In fact I don’t see any games we can win given the way we have played so far this year!!!

Can you tell me that continuing to play JG gives you hope over the younger qbs? According to the pole created on a different thread, there’s a 98% chance you don’t. Or a 2% chance you do.

And yes. Playing Maurer could easily change the direction of HB. They are too close in class and too good to sit. If Maurer took control of this offense HB is gone. But not only him. JG certainly is too. Bringing the total to 3 rather than the 5 CJP is expecting. So his choice is ride with JG for this year to gain 2 more qbs next season and HOPE he gets better or play Maurer and take the chance on losing out on HB and his veteran. What choice would you make?

Ah so Harrison told you he is out of Maurer plays?
Good to know, cause I thought he had concerns because the coaches are sticking with players that arent effective over younger players who could provide a spark if given a chance.
Trust me, Harrison has little actual concern with being able to beat out anyone on the roster, if given a fair shot next year.
But then I guess next year the UT staff will play an ineffective QB, in order to appease a QB recruit in the 2021 class.

By that logic that means Tua Tagoviola would be gone as Saban replaced Barnett with true freshman Jalen Hurts at QB! Didnt work that way did it? I dont think players are afraid of competition, in fact most treasure it! (Unless youre one of those that takes his football and goes home if he doesnt get his way)
