Pruitt Must Go!

Ed, when the average VN.com participant neither knows nor cares who Scott Pruitt is, it should not surprise you that most responses will completely fail to acknowledge the right third of that cartoon (really, anything beyond the thread title).

But you probably could've predicted that. Maybe you did. You pot stirrer, you.

Anyone is expecting a good year in 2018 is an idiot

I don't think anyone is expecting a good year but if the record is not the same or better than 2017, folks will question whether we upgraded. Some may even question that if the record is the same.

But would you really think things were okay if at the end of the year we were 2-10 or 3-9? The honeymoon will be over before the first year ends if that is the case.

He had better win at least 5.

That "No Hat No Service" sign was what made me laugh! I grew up in these kinds of diners.

You realize the talent on the roster is the bottom half in the SEC we have very few NFL prospect or different markers on the entire roster

We will be lucky to win five or six and should be grateful this roster has holes all over it and average players and most positions that combination means not good

I like to think of the VolNation family as above average.
But I could be wrong. After all, I'm Special myself.

Besides that, cartoons help us make it through the off-season.

So you are saying we are the same as last year and can expect the same results ?

He made every excuse under the sun for Jones. Now that he has been fired the expectation level has returned for Pruitt. At least its evident his opinion of Jones isn't very high given he is setting the bar higher for a guy who has never been a HC.

Truthfully it wont be a miracle if they win 7 either. Some of the perceived "talent" issues are development issues. I don't know how good of a manager Pruitt is, but he knows development and his staff has a solid track record for that as well.

Time will tell.

Let's revisit this after a 2-6 start.

I can guarantee you we aren't starting 2-6. We aren't a SEC East contender, but we aren't near as bad as some assume. Not to mention the difference a great coaching staff can make. No we aren't beating GA, Ala, Aub and most likely S.Carol but the other 8 are winnable. ETSU, Char and SMU are easy wins. 7-6 W.Va who was #106 in total defense, #103 in Rush Defense, #90 in Pass Defense and #90 in scoring defense. They were also #83 in Rushing offense. They are a one dimensional offense with no defense. Mizzou was 7-6 without a single win over any bowl team. Flor was 4-7 with just as many issues and questions as TN. Vandy was 5-7 and no more Ralph Webb. UK was 7-6 and lose their starting QB. The combined record of those teams in those 8 winnable games was 35-62. 7 wins was the most by any of those 8 and that was by 3 of them. The other 5 all had losing records. We also have the better 4 yr recruiting class avg than all 8 of them. So I'm just not understanding how some fans are also calling for 3-5 wins. I understand being skeptical but already giving up on the season and assuming 3-5 wins is absurd. It would be different if any of those 8 opponent's had more than 7 wins or if they had won a championship of any kind. I'm obviously missing something. I'm not even saying we win all 8, but none of those game are guaranteed losses. If Butch and that HS Staff was still here , then I could definitely see it. But our staff has coached at Ala, Fla, USC, Fla St, Texas, Georgia, Auburn, LSU among others.

There's Fan's who can't get past Pruitt being an Ala Alum, who are hoping he fails. I really doubt that he fails, but damn atleast let him fail before you don't support him. If Fulmer of all people didn't have an issue with it, then why should anyone else? We all know he hates Ala to his core. He spent just as much time trying to get Ala put on probation as he did coaching and recruiting. But Pruitt was his guy from the start and had no issues with the Bammer stuff.

Honestly a good year to me is making the Music City or Liberty Bowl. Too high of an expectation?

Then I hope they can go to Memphis. Of the lower tier bowls, that liberty bell trophy is one of the better looking ones out there.

Exactly!! We aren't near as talentless as many fans believe. Depth is an issue at numerous places, as is having not enough talent at certain positions. But with good coaching, development, a completely different mindset and limited injuries, we will get to 7-8 wins. Not to mention being stronger and more physical. We will lose the talent wars in games against Ala, Ga and Auburn but there's no reason teams like UMass, Vandy, UK, Mizzou and Ga Tech should push us around like last yr.
