And gave up 30 ppg last year against P5 teams, lost 5 of the 7 games by 25+ points. I honestly figured the defense would be the biggest improvement this year. So far, it’s actually worse giving up 33.67 ppg against FBS teams. THAT is the real head-scratcher about his tenure in Knoxville to this point, expected much more. I don’t agree with so many bearing the co-DC title and Pruitt with his hand in there as well, it feels like it may be too many chiefs..,

Alabama, where he inherited a defense that already had fifteen (15) NFL drafts picks on the roster. But this thread is about Pruitt making Georgia a top program and there’s not much of a case for that.

He took a D ranked 89 th in scoring and made it the 16th in his first year and 8th in the 2nd. And who was Saban s first choice for his new DC to replace smartt ?

And wow how did a college football team have 15 draft picks on it ?? It’s college , now if you are saying that Pruitt got 15 players drafted then you may be on to something

Again, saying he had the 8th best defense one year isn’t much of a case that he made them into a top program.

15 players who were on bama’s team before Pruitt got there were drafted in the 2017 & 2018 draft. Those were Kirby’s recruits, not Pruitt’s.

They won 12 games in 2012, had multiple guys drafted off that defense who have had multi-year NFL careers, Jarvis Jones, Alec Ogletree, Bacarri Rambo and John Jenkins, all those guys played at least 5 years in the league, Jenkins and Ogletree are still playing. In 2013 they were trying to replace those all those guys and others and took a step back, Pruitt got there the next year when Leonard Floyd, Jordan Jenkins and some of those guys were on the way up.

Did anyone else see this and not immediately think that we was bout to WTMFA just for that?

They all breathing the same air as us. They put their pants on 1 leg at a time as well. They still gotta line up in front of another man just like we do. The ones saying we will get embarrassed prolly have never been in a fight, much less WON a fight against someone bigger, stronger, faster, older than them.

I was taught from a young age that If a man comes to YOUR HOUSE lookin for trouble - u give it to him. I'm sure these young men are no different and will be fired up to play and defend Neyland on national TV. Especially since we are a 4 score underdog at home. And throw out the abysmal home record the past 12 years cuz this team just got called the lady vols. Never have seen this. By God, GA is bout to get their season upended in Knoxville 💯

Lol, he improved our defense. But he is in no way responsible for our recent success. And any who implies anything of the like is an idiot or has an axe to grind. Kirby and his staff recruit their asses off. So no one person can take credit for the turnaround, not even Kirby. But if you asked me who was the most responsible, I would have to 1-Kirby, 1-b, and c, in no particular order is Sam Pittman, and Dell McGee.
And I am not taking anything away from Pruitt. He had good players to work with when he got here. But he did improve the defense. And he is a very good evaluator of talent. He brought in several player that were 3*, project type players who turned into very good players who played major roles for us.
But turned our program around. Please.

Pruitt is not the guy. It panicks me that people are either in denial or don’t see it.

It’s not a good situation but we have to cut our losses. Go hire a coach that can coach up lower level players (Willie Fritz for example) and let’s start building this thing right.

Did Richt have any 10 win seasons before Pruitt arrived? How many ranked wins did UGA have that year? First, that was probably the worst 10 win team UGA has ever had. Second, you can't claim Pruitt was responsible for Richt winning 10 games when Richt averaged 10 wins a year. Richt had multiple 10 win seasons without Pruitt.
