Pruitt made uga a top program... he can at UT also

My problem from the beginning with the Pruitt hire was that we severely overpaid and have a lopsided buyout for a 1st time HC. Fulmer could have gotten Pruitt for 2mil or less.

You don’t go balls deep on an experiment or your 4-5 choice (as people say he was).

Good points.

Who exactly was Fulmer wrangling with for Pruitt's services in the first place to warrant a top 25 salary off the bat?

I’d love to know how he was 4-5? There weren’t people jumping the smokies to get here. The money is a lot but we can’t change it now. Personally I think if he can turn it he’ll be worth the investment

Uh child the Defense improved every year that Pruitt and co were there and is the Reason they won 10 games Richts last 2 years ... use your Brain the O is what got Richt fired
Wrong, one of the main reasons Richt was fired was his inability to beat very mediocre Florida teams such as this one.

Florida vs. Georgia - Box Score - November 1, 2014 - ESPN

UF admitted (coaches And players) they called the same 4 running plays all game en route to 418 yards and whopping 7 ypc. That isn’t the defense’s fault? Pruitts D gave up 676 yards in just two games versus Fla. Pretty sure that was the “D”. Not to mention the discord he sowed. You can still see plenty of news that many thought Pruitt was fired after the Fla game.

Actually he did.
State your case. Jameis Winston is the biggest reason FS won the championship. Did he change Bama to? He was there the longest soooo. Look, I'm not a Pruitt hater and actually do think he has a great defensive mind WHEN he has the best athletes. He's not going to get that here so he's going to have to actually show that he can coach up guys as well as run a team.

Why do you think Fulmer isn’t a yes man?

Because he didn’t do exactly what they told him to do. He knows how to work the rooms and back channels. I could be wrong and that’s fine but I think he’s got the best interest of the fans and program in mind unlike the fat cats who wanted to hire a man who quit after 3 days. Imagine where we’d be then...

I do think Mel Tucker would have been a home run hire. He already had the maturity the job needs, understood the recruiting job it takes coming from both UGA and Bama, had experience from different venues including the NFL and is excellent X and O coach.

For perspective, Colorado had not beaten a top 25 team since 2012, Tucker has already beaten two in his first four games.

My opinion is that Pruitt was Fulmer’s first pick but several here claim that he was 4-5 on his list and he had no other choice.

Sure it will be worth it if he gets us back to competing at a championship level but that’s one hell of a gamble Fulmer made.

The Florida State backs were bad before he got there and in just year 2 they were #2 in the country.
Being the head man he’s got some guys who want to play his way and are doing great Henry T comes to mind so he’s doing fine in my opinion. This isn’t an overnight turn around

When you have no choice then it is what it is.
Some guys didn’t want to come here because of the outrageous expectations. I can’t blame them either

Everybody knows who is telling.
We all know who calls the shots
The same man who filled the BOT with puppets
If it goes bad just watch and see who ends up as HC and AD and it won’t be the dream anyone wants

Please.

Florida State was 4th in total defense in 2012 with an average 275 opponent yards allowed and 25 TDs allowed. In Pruitt's one season at FSU, they moved to 2nd in total defense, and averaged 254 yards allowed with 23 TDs allowed. Pruitt stood on the shoulders of his predecessors, and reaped the rewards of having already established and developed talent. The way you talk about him it's as if he took a mediocre to bad defense and made them great, and that's not at all what happened in his single season at the school.

Sure, let’s just get it outta the way now and say he’s terrible and knows nothing. Tennessee will me in the pit of misery forever and we’ll fire him at seasons end for going 1-9. Starting another search that fails before it starts. Setting Tennessee back another 10 because we just can’t accept that Tennessee is a mess.

Where did I say he is horrible?

You don't want to judge him on the product he is putting on the field at UT, so you want to fall back on his "coaching success" at other schools, but you want to misconstrue the reality of that experience as if he's some kind of paragon of defensive genius.

I'm sorry that the reality of his body of work doesn't support your claims, but that's not my fault.

Is competing for a spot in the SECCG every year really an outrageous expectation?

We’ll never know how many choices Fulmer had but the one he settled on he way overpaid for. He owns the Pruitt experiment.

I said plenty of times he’s not helping himself by his choices. I won’t say he’s guessing on the sidelines like some of you claim he does. If he had absolutely no clue explain why some are getting better. Never said he was a genius either but hey I guess I’m not the only one making things up here.

Like I said if he gets fired and we get screwed again I’ll wait on you to post about firing him too because he can’t pull off the overnight turn either.

Yeah, I wouldn't call asking that your defensive-minded head coach field a defense that can line up correctly every play, and show at least a modicum of improvement as asking for an "overnight turn".
