He’s trying to build a program the right way. If you start playing guys who don’t practice (well), you’re really gonna lose your team. The idea is The best players Should be the ones setting the tone in practice.I read an article somewhere this week indicating Pruitt places a high premium on practicing. Even he said in the article if the player was bigger, stronger, faster but had not practiced much or well then the players that did practice the most or well play more. He indicated the kids on the team understand that, they know who's been practicing and working hard and who has not and therefore who has worked to play in the games. He sees the gamne as a reward for practicing. This is fundamental with CJP and explains why we see one QB playing well even into garbage time in a lopsided loss. 2 of the 4 prime QBs have not practiced much (no fault of their own), therefore, they're not going to play much. Now what you have here IMO is an emotional response rather than the reason of a professional. The professional in tough times uses any tool at his/her disposal to succeed or get on a path to winning. The emotional type has something in his /her experience that drives him/her to commit to acting a certain way given their past.
Building a team the right way include starting players who give you no chance to win? That must be the progressive way of doing things. He’s trying to build a program the right way. Im just amazed it took this long. I was shocked it didnt erupt after the 2nd pick 6 in a row vs KY. I wont say JG is the reason we lost 3 in a row, but he is a reason why we didnt win. When he didn't make the (impossible) catch, the cameras caught JG barking at him. At least in his direction. I had figured that Palmer was responding to JG's attitude.
Did you even read the article? Things got heated - ok, good. Shows they care. But then "Guarantano went back up to him and calmed things down. The two had a pretty long, measured conversation about the play." Nothing to see here.. especially not that "Pruitt is losing the team." Good grief.
You realize Texas A&M isn't coming into our game undefeated, right? Bama already blasted them.I'm not sold on TAMU as a top 10 team; I hope they can make it to our game undefeated. It would be a golden opportunity to salvage something of our season. With decent QB play, we should be evenly matched.
UF was caught napping and probably is a top 10 team.
He is not losing the team. Some players who are underperforming may realize that they are likely to see less playing time because they are not pulling their share of the load. I like it that Johnson doesn't like losing and is willing to try to let people know they have to do better. Peer pressure is good, often better that a chewing by the coach. It is evident that there are underachievers who are playing and need to pick it up or sit on the bench. All the players will get the opportunity to earn their playing time. I think we will se some changes against Arkansas. When players start fighting each other on the sideline you have a huge problem and anyone could have seen it coming. That is everyone other than the head coach apparently.
Jarrett Guarantano, Brandon Johnson separated by coaches after failed fourth down
I feel they're overrated as well. They barely beat Vandy, then lost to Bama as bad as we did. I think the win over FL was a fluke, but guess we'll see.I'm not sold on TAMU as a top 10 team; I hope they can make it to our game undefeated.
