Pruitt just said offensive coordinators are overrated

People on this site value their own opinion to a cringe level. I learned a long time ago this place does not represent the common fan, or even the smartest fan. Entertaining nonetheless. I hope someday I can be as successful as all of these professional coaches, recruiters, and public speaking experts someday.
I keep asking myself "why bother". It has to be the entertainment.

Yet you clearly value your own opinion above theirs, with no more evidence that it is more correct. You essentially just described yourself.

Actually, I didn't express an opinion of Pruitt in any of my posts.

Nor did I refute anything being said. Simply gave his full quote without offering any analysis on it whatsoever.

I also value opinions based on merit and circumstantial evidence. Not which individual they came from. Myself included.

It is, and for those of us disconnected from Knoxville it serves as a decent bridge to keep the interest.

Because he has overwhelming talent. WE DON'T. We need a competitive advantage, because we very clearly cant outrecruit them.

So, from your vast background in Div I Football, how does having a OC give you a competitive advantage? if your HC is good enough to do both the jobs........and I believe CJP can. I respect him for not following the path that Fans think he should. This guy is comfortable in what he knows, and if he says he doesn't need an OC........then he doesn't, plain a simple. If a Defense Minded Coach, who has to know just about every type of Offense Scheme, tells you that a OC is overrated..........then he pretty much knows more that anyone on this blog.

If you’ve been a Vol fan long enough you should know by now that “being a head coach and all” isn’t a guarantee that the person in question knows what they’re talking about.
LOL probably been a Vol fan longer than you have been alive. I would be willing to bet that the worst head coach knows infinitely more about football than 99% of the fans on here. You could probably take the full football knowledge of 75% (maybe more) here add it together and it still wouldn't equal that of the worst head coach.

I've begun taking Pruitt's comments with a healthy dose of skepticism. He also said this last February:

Jeremy Pruitt makes big promise about Tennessee's 2019 class: 'We're gonna be right at the top'

Granted he still has room and time but....

Going too have to knock it out of the park with those last 8 or so guys to be right at the top. Not likely..

imagine being mad that people have opinions on a board expressly designed to let them share their opinions

Pruitt downplaying the OC search/(lack of) a hire. And he knows a large portion of the fanbase will defend his stupidity. Dude could say having a quarterback is overrated andba portion of the fanbase would marvel at his brilliance and how far advanced he is amoung head coaches.

You ain’t changing your opinion regardless. So why pretend it has any bearing?

Homerism, gift and curse

OK, since I am going to be all inclusive now (I am trying to be more PC).....

It is the equivalent of a saying a "Hot, young, down home, brunette that says fixin to and yall is not all that" when she rejects you OR

It is the equivalent of saying a "Slightly Fiery, hot, young redhead is overrated" because she dumped you...

Oh my! Seems like I hurt your feelings and made you go off on a more and more ridiculous range of petty face-saving egomaniacism. Poor thing. By all means, continue, it's clear you're beyond help of any kind professional or otherwise. You poor, poor, child. I take my leave of you for the nonce but leave you alone with the tearful sadness of your heart's forlorn self-pity.

We are no closer to out-coaching, recruiting, developing, or playing the teams that matter in the SEC after today. The gap isn't closing in any regard. He needs every element of our program to be extraordinary to even begin making up ground.

Also, just a weird thing to say before you actually hire for the position. Imagine if you’re the guy hired, and your boss thinks your existence is overrated......that’s not a good foot to start on

He never said "offensive coordinators are overrated". Some of you can't comprehend what you're reading you just skim quickly and see only what you want to see. OP's post is basically fake news. Read what the man said and let it sink in:

What Jeremy Pruitt said after day one of the Early Signing Period

On the offensive coordinator search...
“I’d rather talk about recruiting right now. The offensive coordinator sometimes is overrated. There’s some of these teams that it doesn’t matter who the offensive coordinator is, based off talent or lack there of. The most important thing right now is recruiting. We’ll worry about that later.”

How so? He's recruiting at the same clip or better. With Crouch, Wright, and Gray, the average player rating would eclipse 90.00, which Butch never did. He has only taken 1 single recruit below an 86. Butch took 16 guys his last 2 years that were 85 or below. This is a very high-floor class with enough top talent (2 5*s) to change things immediately.

With equal talent, the rebuild should be faster, as this staff is much better than Butch's at developing players. Coach YAC and Friend are phenomenal. Sherrer, Rocker, Rumph are proven SEC veterans. Only weak link is maybe Weinke and Fair, imo, but Pruitt has the DBs covered. A ton better than that MAC staff we had.
What, in your opinion, makes Fair a weak link? I always found him to be quite knowledgeable when hearing him speak.
