Pruitt just said offensive coordinators are overrated

Full quote in case it hasn't made it here yet:
"The offensive coordinator, sometimes, is overrated. You can look and watch these teams out here, and there’s some of these teams, it probably doesn’t matter who the offensive coordinator is, based off talent or lack thereof."
I would rather leave a word or two out, take his words out of context, or just make stuff up.

It helps fuel my outrage.....sometimes.

So far I agree. It's a little underwhelming. Going to be a slower build than Jones had at this rate.

How so? He's recruiting at the same clip or better. With Crouch, Wright, and Gray, the average player rating would eclipse 90.00, which Butch never did. He has only taken 1 single recruit below an 86. Butch took 16 guys his last 2 years that were 85 or below. This is a very high-floor class with enough top talent (2 5*s) to change things immediately.

With equal talent, the rebuild should be faster, as this staff is much better than Butch's at developing players. Coach YAC and Friend are phenomenal. Sherrer, Rocker, Rumph are proven SEC veterans. Only weak link is maybe Weinke and Fair, imo, but Pruitt has the DBs covered. A ton better than that MAC staff we had.

O coordinaters are overrated. Everyone gets excited over points and yet the old adage of defense wins championships just doesn't excite as much.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the stuff he said about offensive coordinators really concerns me.
As Tennessee fans, we know better than anybody how important offensive playcalling is. Look at the Jones era. Playcalling can lose you games when you have the talent to win. I dont want another first time offensive coordinator. Look at how that worked out with Larry Scott.
You said it all when you said "as Tennessee fans". He might just know what he's talking about.........being a head coach and all. Just sayin.

Maybe he's planning on his new defensive recruits to have 2-3 pick sixes a game. So who needs offense?
I think we have a pretty good recruiting class considering we were 5-7, but he needs to realize he ain't blowing nobody's skirt up with his recruiting either. If Pruitt is a good coach, the class we got today ought to be able to handle Vandy, Missouri and Kentucky with some development and be competitive with Florida and South Carolina, but we didn't do anything today to remotely close the talent gap between here and Tuscaloosa and Athens. Take our 5 best recruits and quadruple them and that's what those 2 pulled today.

The last thing that he needs is to draw even more attention to the fact that we dont have a current OC. The players know, but if by some chance he has managed to turn their focus from that to our football program as a whole, the headlines talking about the OC search are detracting from that. I think that he has already found a OC and is not announcing until after ESD so that those who are committed will not change anything if they disagree with the hire.

After this year and after what Butch Jones left him to work with. I am sure he focused all his time lately working on recruiting. And i got no problem with that. Like it or not people but Butch Jones left him one of the worst teams in the SEC. Give credit where it is due. Pruitt and his coaches took this team and won 2 games against top 25 teams. That hasnt been done in a long time at UT. The problem this team just ran out of gas toward the end of the season. or we would of got to 6 wins. Pruitt will fix all this

Might be right about hot skinny blondes. Too many are spoiled, self-centered, money wasting things who think the world revolves around them. Give me a good old-fashioned country gal who doesn't spend a fortune on warpaint, shoes designed to be looked at instead of serving a useful function and trinkets. Who can skin game, fish as good as any man, smoke venison, do canning, dare you to meet her in the bedroom for 2-hour romping sessions, and love football, especially Vols football. I take that one over some skinny "I. me, and myself" blonde any day.

Wow.....a real man!!

Says who? A couple of insignificant fans?
People on this site value their own opinion to a cringe level. I learned a long time ago this place does not represent the common fan, or even the smartest fan. Entertaining nonetheless. I hope someday I can be as successful as all of these professional coaches, recruiters, and public speaking experts someday.

Yet you clearly value your own opinion above theirs, with no more evidence that it is more correct. You essentially just described yourself.

If you’ve been a Vol fan long enough you should know by now that “being a head coach and all” isn’t a guarantee that the person in question knows what they’re talking about.
