Let's stop and face reality. Fulmer was totally misguided with his defensive stubbornness. The SEC has 6 teams ranked in the top 25 in scoring defense. So if we lucky we might join a group of 6 with great defenses. With all brand new inexperienced offensive people, where do we go? The only way to return to greatness would be with an offensive juggernaut which the SEC lacks. The SEC needs an Oklahoma and unfortunately Phil Fulmer left that train at the station because of grudges against the guy whose job he took and the guy who took his.

You do not win in the SEC having to score 35-40 points a game. Great defense is what wins in this league. For reference see our offensive output vs the defensive output in Dooleys last year.
BTW, you still washing fat Donnies car for him?
OP, I'm gonna have to go with Phillip Fulmer and his experience and expertise over your opinion.
Hes what you get when youre down to the 20th choice or so. Doesnt mean he wont turn out fine, it just means he was on nobodys radar when Butch was canned.
To think that you basically had Mike Leach, and someone torpedoed that to land Pruitt, is crazy.
Mike Leach would have had SEC opponents nervous as hell about playing UT on a yearly basis.
Ya know, I'm so tired of reading all the negativity about CJP! Previous AD's made those hires on instruction from one wealthy family controlling the athletic department. That influence is not as strong as it was, simply because of CPF being in charge of athletics now. I just read an article that told of how CJP had a list of coaches prepared for his staff when he interviewed. Experienced coaches, top quality at other stops, who are joining him here on Rockytop. I think this guy has a plan and the staff to put it in place, and he sure as heck ain't afraid to go after the best players. Let's quit being the negative Nancy's and give him a chance. And no, there was absolutely no sense in having an interim coach next season and blowing a recruiting cycle. That would be the hardest part for any coach to have to overcome.
Pruitt is more about game day decisions. UT can recruit itself. All a HC has to do is produce in the field thru a solid game plan and proper execution.
Saban is a good coach. He follow Neyland's maxims.
I don't know about his personality, but that maters too.
Inspire the players and coaches to out work the competition.
Why is everyone responding to this thread? Some people just love to be miserable.
