Pruitt failed this test.

Apathy is settling in and that is a reality we have never faced as a fanbase.

Yeah, no one wants to see that struggle bus week in and week out. We have the basketball season to look forward to hopefully CJP can field a better team next year

And Im not sure you can blame that aspect on Pruitt. He actually had them believing and it even turned into 2 big wins. This team is full of losers (maybe after winning they realized they werent supposed to be decent?) and they simply dont have any real heart. I think Pruitt knows this team doesnt care so hes just ready to recruit over these guys.
After this debacle, that recruiting pitch is much more difficult.

I heard the commentators during the Florida/Florida State game talking about FSU. They said they need to recruit players who love football. Most guys love the attention and the recruitment process, etc., but their heart isn’t in the game. Maybe this applies to UT as well. I just hope the comeback comes sooner than later!

While I still have high hopes for Pruitt being able to get it done in the next year or two, I pretty much agree with the OP's general sentiment.

Yes, the team sucked and was filled with losers today - But Pruitt is HC and it is on him to find a way to motivate even these dregs from bottom of the Butch barrel better.

We may never comeback and that's just the harsh reality.

Pruitt better have heck of a recruiting class. If we don't show improvment next year, he'll be on the hot seat year 3. These last two games have shaken most folks opinion of him.
Heck, im starting to wonder after these last two games, how many of these top notch recruits do we hold on to.

Next great coach? Lmfao. The administration will hire another bargain basement can of corn and continue to take the fan base for granted. Business as usual...
If that happens it's really over. The athletic department will be bankrupt in short order from an empty stadium every week.

I am starting to worry too. Recruiting is as much about the bag men as relationships and alumni tend to close the wallets when they are unsure of a coach.

Same here. Huge Strike 1. A Butch Jonesesque loss.

Yeh, I still feel like this is on the players , but if this happens next year, I'd be suited up and ready to help pack some bags. I'd rather field a team of walkons that want to take pride in their uniforms than this crap. Sucks for the handful that stuck through this crap show and have given their all.

It won’t work anymore. Renewals will decline again this year. They’ll have to start getting serious about the hires or the stands will be empty.

I would ignore every phone call I got from Tennessee if I were a recruit .

Would you want to play here right now? We are now a program routinely getting beat by Vandy. We don’t sell out football games anymore because the product is so bad to watch. Our fanbase is beginning to grow apathetic after more than a decade of “rebuilding”. We have a staff that couldn’t get their team prepared to play an evenly matched team with a bowl game on the line. There’s not much to see that would make one feel like anything is improving.
