A level of realism worthy of General Neyland himself.
Now for a dose of Cafego-level hatred...
This job has been handed to man who has never been a head coach, never worked here, and doesn't understand our traditions or our legacy. It certainly doesn't help that this guy despises the University of Tennessee as much as I loathe him and his fellow Updyke band of ear-holing, bottom-feeding, flatland scum.
Bringing in the guy who doesn't know jack about Tennessee has worked so damned well over the last decade. Why not do it again...and this time with a flipping Bammer POS?
A program with mid-major expectations will generally achieve mid-major results. We've exceeded ourselves this time in that we've hired a man who hates the institution he's been hired to lead.
What could possibly go wrong?
appreciate the honesty.
but do you think coaching at alabama is really any different than TN? froma fishbowl perspective?
i siap yesterday, give me the alpha male that's coached fantastic elite level defense and recruits his azz off over a guy that's only other qualification may be just that he's been a head coach.
and of course a lot of this depends on how much stock one puts into the prospects of a petersen, patterson, fuente, franklin, or gruden type hire. if you're one of the ones that thought that was a realistic option, then you were probably going to be disappointed in a mullen, brohm, frost type hire.
and as this thing played out, and those type of names then got removed from consideration....we found ourselves here.
as for the bama tie in, it's been hashed out, but this conference is incestuous, always has, always will be. saban with Lsu/bama, bryant ky/bama, dickey tn/fl, dye aub/ga, dooley ga/abu, cutcliffe tn/bama, battle tn/bama.....so either you choose to get over the bama connection or you don't.
but if you're really honest with yourself, it's going to be hard to convince anyone that, if it's a TN contingent you had your heart set on, STeel or Martin are more qualified than Pruitt. they're not.
it still boils down to choice, and i'm not hear to convince you one way or the other. just sharing the information, as i see it, and insight as to how i think about it.
