Pruitt Confidence level?

My confidence level 1-10 that Pruitt will be a successful head coach...10.

My confidence level that it'll be here...7.

Im still fully in the pro Pruitt camp.

National signing day is his next big game.

He strongly needs to win that one.
Don't see how it could be a 10 after this year even if you want to give him an incomplete this season due to the dumpster fire he inherited. I would have leaned towards 7-8 before Mizzou game, but after last 2 weeks I'd say 5-6. Zero excuse to get our arse kicked in back-to-back weeks by Mizzou and Vandy.

No. Under no circumstances should we get beat down 50-17 AT HOME...then follow it up by getting crushed by Vandy with a bowl bid on the line. That is unacceptable by any metric or reasoning. Pruitt should be ashamed. That was a despicable performance these last 2 games. Any hope of Pruitt engendered by the wins vs Auburn and Kentucky have been utterly obliterated in ghastly fashion. When I look at how Dooley recruited...then Burch...I am convinced the reason we are somewhat competitive in recruiting is because UT basically recruits itself. This is a great university with a rich history that somehow continues to get respect....despite the failures of the administration and coaching staffs. Pruitt did nothing but foment and carry on the shame that previous coaches brought to this program. He made us embarrassed and humiliated and put us on a prominent stake in the town center to be ridiculed and clowned once again. He brought zero pride back to Tennessee football....and actually put us in a deeper chasm of despondency and shame. He did NOTHING but put us in an even deeper cesspool of grief and despair. This proud school and its fans deserve far better than the tsunami of shame he has inflicted upon us.

Jeremy has more or less said that there are players on the team that can't , or won't, practice or play the "right way". He needs time to flush them and bring in players that have or can learn to do it the right way. In my opinion, that starts in the weight room. Those guys were getting pushed around like a middle school team (all season). That just aint right when you're playing Tennessee. We need guys who would rather lift than look at their phones. Go Vols.

Exact same argument that was made for Dooley and Butch Jones by a ton of folks on this board.

I don’t know what any coach could do about a group of kids that just don’t have the heart to compete. How can you explain the play in the Barn and Ky wins......and even the SoCar loss. Then the last 2 games........it really looked like some of the guys weren’t bought in and didn’t want to go to a bowl.

For the love of God, people. This has been years in the making..a culture of mediocrity isn’t going to change over night! The man literally had 4 weeks of any recruiting before signing day last Feb. Heck, even Saban went 6-6 his first season... let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water, sheeze.
He had 4 weeks because he chose to stay there and help the enemy(his favorite college) win, instead of starting his job here

Totally agree. After our first possession - 3 and out - I told my wife, "We're going to lose this game". The 75 yard run by Ty for a TD was a sugar high. The rest of our play was slow, weak, and listless. I don't know how much CJP can do for next year, but, hopefully, he and Fitz can get them to put down the phone and pick up the weights in the off-season.

Next year............... Is this starting to sound familiar yet?

I'm not saying give in but when we keep repeating next year, next year, next year over and over it gets old and annoying. At this point I'm put up our shut up. We are owned by everyone in the SEC not named KY over the past 10 years. To think we could expect to win against anyone except KY just isn't being honest with themselves.

Quit talking about next year until this team shows they are ready to take the next step.

Next year vandy will be... young. I'm not going to say bad, but I'm thinking it. I don't fall into the "next year" we'll beat'em all category but I think Vandy specifically next year is going to be a bad team. We may not be a very good team next year, but we will be different.

Well, 5-7 first season closed out with back to back embarrassing losses. Honestly makes me wonder how tf we beat Auburn and Kentucky. What do guys think of year 1?

I know the reasonable thing would say “he just doesn’t have the players yet.” And that is 100 true. But no UT coach should ever lose to Vandy, let alone get beat down by them. It has honestly made me question him a lot. How do you be a competent coach and even let this happen?

If you can't beat Vandy what can you do? I think it should be part of any coaching contract, lose to Vandy and have your letter of resignation on the presidents desk by morning. If it was an away game find your own transportation home.

We have roughly equal talent to Florida. They have about the same average recruiting rankings as us over the past 4-5 years and have suffered a lot of attrition as well. And look how well Mullen did in year 1.
No, we don't. FL recruited position players with talent, IBJ recruited talented athletes that he thought would turn into position players. Ergo the problems we have now.

Don’t you even dare. Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt. Period. This is a terrible and embarrassing loss.
Did you watch the game? Vanderbilt has better athletes plain and simple. Even If Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt Tennessee is certianly not Tennessee right now. Give him time to gets some players on campus that can play in his system, before you pass judgement.

So I would say if we can't win 8 next season with the players returning and the recruits coming in time to get out of town for Pruitt and his Assistants. He is certainly in rebuilding mode but second year in his program should mean a lot of improvement for the team.

2 yrs. Come on. Programs need stability.
He started in the basement. Give him enough time to get an entire roster of his guys.....then we can talk.

I’m 100% confident that he is the man to get the job done.

Everyone here that is Vols fan is a Pruitt supporter, his succeeding means UT succeeds. There are legitimate questions as to if he can.
Agreed
And while a better performance or a win last nite makes you feel better it also doesnt mean hes the answer either.

It was a weird year. After UF it was pretty well agreed on that this was a 3 or 4 win team. After AU and UK, a really good shot at 6.
Our 3 best games were games 6, 8, and 10. We were a play on either side of the ball against SC from winning 3 out 4 against AU, Bama, SC and UK. Then we just all of a sudden blow up the last 2 games after probably the best overall performance against UK.

Err, the Vandy team that had ND on the ropes and top 10 (11?) gators down big before blowing it? Vandy wasn't nearly as bad as y'all want to believe.

Some of you all will never get up to speed - these aren't you parents' VU and UK 2-win teams that probably recruited top-100. The "rising tide lifts all boats" saying couldn't be any truer about SEC success.

And what is wrong with seeing things through and finishing to the players who were committed to you? I would hope he would do the same for us...and not run out of Knoxville in the middle of the night like another coach we had.
