Recruiting is a good thing BUT many times players don't pan out.
Daniel Brooks, LaMarcus Coker, James Banks, Mark Levine, Leonard Scott,
Also, there are times when good recruits are not used properly
Or coaches don't develops players or coaches don't make good calls and put players in position to succeed
We should have beaten this team by 35. We also should have beaten USC.
I have heard this song before plenty of times and know how it ends
Same as the Dooley song or Butch song
Once again- Pruitt won’t instantly walk into top 5-10 classes in the first year or two. As long as his first class or two show improvement and develop, he will trend up in recruiting. I firmly believe that. Is there any proof to dispute that or prove it? No. Call it a hunch. If that hunch doesn’t pan out, me and you will get together for the Florida game in Year 3 for steaks, cigars, and Bourbon! Deal?
There are more ways to judge improvement than wins. For starters, this team hasn't gone a month without scoring an offensive touchdown like it did last year. The offense has gotten much better and JG looks like a very solid qb now. Yet, people still want to complain about the offense and qb play. Newsflash, our players arent very good. Callaway, supposedly our best receiver, didn't score a touchdown this season until yesterday... And that was a punt return. Let that sink in... Tennessee's best receiver hasnt had a receiving touchdown and we are more than halfway through the season! Our receivers havent been able to beat dbs and safeties for explosive plays. And our oline hasnt been able to open holes for running backs. Our offense is still very limited, but this coaching staff has found ways to make us better than we were last year.OK Ray, how many more wins do we have this year, I'm waiting?
My question is how was the program allowed to fall to such dire levels of talent? It isn’t something that just happens overnight. There are more ways to judge improvement than wins. Show an actual Saban quote which verifies this or its just made up. Btw, he was not coaching DB’s while on support staff. In 2008, Smart, the DC, was personally in charge of the secondary. In title he was Support Staff but even Saban has said he was coaching DB’s in that “support staff” role. Amazing we are now at a spot trying to discount our coach. Amazing.
Dooley is a tool, a joke. I loved the guy when he was here--not for wins and losses, but for comic relief. Great guy--I'd love to go out for five beers with him, but... he'll be in a law practice in Atlanta in three years, OR he'll be in the SEC corp office (hello daddy).I am still a Pruitt believer. However, if Dooley scores up and down the field on us, and he prolly will, that will be a bad day. Lookit, I know there is always next year, but what about this year?
Why on earth Would he be in a law office in Atlanta? That would be quite the pay cutDooley is a tool, a joke. I loved the guy when he was here--not for wins and losses, but for comic relief. @BeardedVol not sure how you define "impact".
but the 2019 and 2020 classes are going to be the classes that make or break pruitt's career. they're the foundation of what the next 4-5 years will look like.
as for the 2019 class impacting the 2019 season, i dunno if you mean impact by starting or seeing playing significant playing time or if it means winning the division or more, or winning 7,8 or more games........
i'd just say that there's a good chance that just about all of the line of scrimmage players will probably be asked to contribute in one way or the other. and there will be skill position players and back 7 on defense that will be asked to contribute.
so i guess it just depends on what you want out of the class. personally, i don't think next year will be anything close to championship level. but the schedule is lighter. and the class isn't done yet. i can see a scenario where the class is very top heavy when it's all said and done you wind up 3 5*'s, 8 or more so 4*'s and the rest "fit" players. there's still a good chance this could be a top 10 class, and i still say if you want to prop this class up on something, it will most likely be the OL recruits we bring in this class, and if we wind up with 6, you could argue that 5 of them will play next year.
the next couple months are going to be interesting on the recruiting trail. that's for sure.
