props to Simms. I can't imagine how frustrating it is to lose the starting QB job in the middle of the season in a big-time program like this.
When Bray won it the team around him was starting to mature. If it had been the other way around, Simms would be riding the wave today.
Matt gave and is giving his all for Tennessee. He deserves fans' praise and respect.
I'm thankful he spends most of his time on the sideline. He frustrated me way too much. I hate people who say they knew it, but I knew back in the spring that Bray was a lot better than Simms. I'm still not sure why they didn't use bray first. Maybe daddy mcbigbucks had something to do with it.
+1Matt Simms WON the starting job. Tyler Bray WON the starting job. When Bray won it the team around him was starting to mature. If it had been the other way around, Simms would be riding the wave today. He will play more. I'm glad he's showing some maturity on his own.

hey I'm just saying... Simms wasn't that good at Louisville, and I have not noticed much from him in the first half of the season that would indicate he was very good. I mean he was a good tackling dummy. If he didn't have his one or two wr. open he would just decide to hold the ball. I can not imagine he was showing anything different in preseason ball.
I've mentioned this before, but I don't know where all of the ridicule towards Simms is coming from. Has Bray put up better numbers? Absolutely. But, he was nowhere near ready, nor was the team ready, to have a true freshman at QB. Simms has my respect and admiration. I think we may look back on his QB tenure one day as a bridge of the gap from what once was to what will be again. He was the torchbearer, if you will, and Bray (along with the rest of this young team) is now the future, and UT is back on the rise to prominence. From my perspective, Simms has been a major contributor to what I think will be looked at as the turning point of this program. My hat :hi: goes off to him.
Kid's got some skills, too bad he bounced around so much. Given time in a system and coaching he could be really good. He is way tougher than his brother, who never got touched at Texas then flamed out .......... Matt might become one of the better NFL stories ever told. If Nick R. can do it so can Matt.
Greatly appreciate what he did for us this season as well. I really hope he stays around for next year. He is a great backup and should definitely redshirt Worley.
