Protests in Cuba Against Ruling Dictatorship

Having said that to say this...

I didn't imagine it was going to take that long after the Casro brothers were out of power for the people to start clamoring for increased freedoms.

I think they'll get it too. They will figure out there's a whole bunch of people to their north willing to drop a metric butt-ton of money in developing the country like they had in the 50s. Those in power probably know it as well and know how much in kickbacks they'll get to live a comfortable life.

I’m just wondering if the transition is going to be overtly bloody or if the retired lesser Castro and his cronies goes quietly.

And I really Really REALLY hope we stay the hell out of the covert stuff and the Christians In Action resist the urge to cock it up again.

Agreed, let it play out and offer diplomatic assistance and help in the transition, beyond that no money beyond trade agreements and certainly no military.

The Chinese are active in Cuba now. It's going to be interesting if they manage to get their own version of Gitmo out of this turmoil, or if they become the mercenaries who keep the status quo. Unless the Cuban people absolutely reject socialism, and I'm not sure they are inclined to do so, the Chinese may simply replace what the USSR used to be to Cuba. We can't completely rule out the possibility of a missile crisis v2 with more dangerous stuff this time, and incompetents running the US.

If the Chinese are overtly putting out a presence in Cuba I’d fear a Cuban Missile Crisis 2.0 situation. As long as they exert influence covertly our chicken **** President won’t do jack.

Let's not get all crazy with the Cheese Whiz talking about a second Cuban Missile Crisis. This isn't the 1960s now and China has more problems in their own sphere of influence than to go provoking us like that.

If they want to be the "protector" of Cuba, let them have at it. They'll still open up somewhat and allow trade and tourism.

'Cubans are ready to rule themselves without tyranny': Miami Mayor leads calls for US Intervention in Cuba as thousands take to the streets of Communist-run nation chanting 'down with the dictatorship'

  • Miami Mayor Francis Suarez called on Biden administration to send troops to Cuba amid unrest on the island
  • President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who heads the Communist Party, blamed US for the unrest in televised speech
  • Hundreds of residents chanted anti-government slogans and demanded vaccines, end to daily blackouts
Thousands of Cubans took to the streets from Havana to Santiago on Sunday in rarely seen protests, expressing frustration over pandemic restrictions, the pace of COVID-19 vaccinations and what they said was government neglect.

I’m not advocating we do anything and damn sure don’t want us sending any damn “military advisors” into there. China has already made it clear they consider Biden a chicken ****. But other than being right off our coast there is no advantage to “owning” Cuba. Venezuela makes more sense with all that oil. And frankly being that close in this technology day and age isn’t really any advantage it’s just being an antagonist… which is why they might do it.

Bernie and AOC stand in solidarity with the Cuban government.

NM..... I posted the same link & deleted ^^^^^^ that Franklin Pierce did above .... didn't know he did.

Lest we forget, ole Bernie took his wife Jane on a "honeymoon" to Soviet Russia back in 1988.
Bernie still has his "mental" issues as well as other lunatic Democrats in high office.

This Murderer is an American hiding in Cuba with the Communists. She needs to be brought back to the U.S., by any means whatsoever, to face justice. There is a $2 Million reward for her apprehension.

Her American Court Cases:

Bank Robbery - Acquitted
Bank Robbery - Hung Jury

Probably wouldn't face any justice these days ..... Democrats would line-up to kiss her ass though.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. They tried so hard to trump up charges on her and they finally got something to stick after plenty of shady nonsense.

We went to Cuba something like four years ago. The new stuff like cars and tour buses are all Chinese, and the Chinese are "helping" with Cuban infrastructure - rail and electrical. I don't know beyond that point because tourism was controlled - packaged well, but you realized you wound up on the same roads often - like they showed you the best of the worst, and almost everyone you talked to was pretty certainly handpicked and government groomed for the job. My guess is the Chinese are selling Cuba a lot of stuff they can't afford, and will take land when the payment comes due - that's been their strategy in other places around the world.
