Chaney and Hiestand must go immediately in order for any remote sign of improvement to be seen. Chaney should already have been fired.

I've never been a fan. I wasn't before he was hired, after he was hired or now. That said, I've tried my best to give him a fair shake.

Same boat.

I really hope he is the guy to pull us out of this slump but the last 2 seasons and his career at LaTech have given me no reason to think he will be.

Hope springs eternal I guess.

I posted in another thread that if we lost to Vandy by more than a touchdown or to Kentucky at all that I'd be done with Dooley...I'll stick by my word.

I do NOT think Dooley is the man for UT. He proved nothing to me at La. Tech BUT I was still ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. He impressed me to a certain extent at his initial hiring press conference. I have not bashed him at all up until this point. I have now lost faith in his ability to be a successful SEC Head Coach.

I do think he's a decent recruiter and a good man overall BUT not the right person to be the Vols leader in FB.

He needs more time. Do I think he has been perfect since he got here? No. But he has done a good job rebuilding the roster and stabilizing the program.

Next year is his year to prove what he can do as a coach.

If he doesn't prove anything we part ways. Why not give him a fair chance?

Because the longer this goes on, the worse we get. We gave him a chance for 24 games and he didn't do anything special. Then on the 25th game, he lost to Kentucky.

I voted no because this team has gone from bad to worse there has been no improvement!! The players looked like they were sleepwalking through the Kentucky game and there body language showed they could give a crap!!!! I dont want to set through another year of unmotivated uninspired football!!!!

the only thing i can figure out is that those who think dooley is adequate or needs more time are in deep shock. kind of like the numbness after a traumatic amputation. the reality of how bad this team is after two years of dooley are in the numbers. anybody who can argue with a straight face for anything short of dismissal is beyond reason or rationality. wait another season or two. 'rocky top' will be considered as threatening as 'my old kentucky home.'

I believe UT will keep boy wonder another year and hope for a miracle. But by doing so we are merely postponing the inevitable. I'd love to see them rip the bandage clean.

I would give him at least one more year. In general, I am with others in that I would need at least 8-4 or so to keep him after that. On the one hand, I could see how we lost so many games this year when we had so many top-five teams on our schedule, but on the other we need to aspire (and expect) to be in that top-five group ourselves and the only way to do that is to beat at least some of those teams.

Also, there have been many top coaches who had a tough first few years of their careers. And he really did inherit a huge mess when he got here, which needs to be considered. Especially for his first two years. Now that we are entering year three and now have a stable athletics director, that needs to be moved on from.

I believe that Dooley can get it done at UT's standards in the long run. But because of what he inherited, it may take longer than his first year or two to start seeing that. Also, we cannot keep going through coaches. Even if we let Dooley go after 2012, that would mean four coaches in six seasons which could hurt our program much more than keeping Dooley might.
