Our tickets were grandfathered in with no donation required. That went away a couple years ago.You don't have to go back to the 1900s, that's an exaggeration.
A Tennessee football ticket cost, what, about 20-50 dollars in the early 1990s, at least regular folks seats? I think? That's 50-100 dollars in today's money, give or take a bit. And I don't remember what the donation costs were back then. Someone can chime in if they know. But I'm definitely willing to bet it wasn't anywhere on the scale of prices now.
I may be wrong on the pricing particulars, I concede, as I don't have a clear recollection of pricing past a certain year. But the trend is still glaring. Are they free to monetize in this way? Sure. But the acceleration of aggressive pricing and pricing out folks to suit their new model of college athletics is still noticeable and worth commenting on.
What, did anyone really think that 20 million from Adidas would help allay costs? Or the money from Food City? Does anyone harbor any illusions about that anymore?
I'll keep saying it. Danny White is at the forefront of squeezing every last dime from every last revenue source - and fans are, for UT, a revenue source. They'll squeeze the fans just as hard as they can, and until the renewals indicate otherwise, they'll keep right on squeezing. It's just business. White just wants as much as he can drag out of people before they quit going - and then he'll replace those fans with more affluent fans who can continue to absorb the price increases. He's not a native Tennessean, he's not an alumnus, he's not someone who's from here or will stay here when he's done. He isn't going to wring his hands saying "how do we make this easier for our fans?"
It's just the current job on his resume, and the more he wrings out of everyone, the more he'll be celebrated by people who evaluate college sports solely by revenue.
That’s not how math works. It’s a 4% increase on whatever you are currently paying prior to the 10% talent fee. Then you add the talent fee to the new ticket price. Here is an example comparing a 14% increase vs a 4% increase with a 10% fee:You buried the lede. Another 10% talent fee added. So I believe the total YoY increase is 14%. Snuck that casual little 10% increase in the last paragraph
Athens and Tuscaloosa tickets are cheaper. It's not "their model of college athletics" but the state of college athletics if you want to win on a level that UT wins on. We are not unique.

He won’t do anything. Some good people in admin but until people don’t pay, it will increase. If they have a bad year or two, people will stop in droves. I do think they would be fine with more tickets going to companies.Athletics gets about 50k a year from me for the past decade or so.
Its pisses me off for the people that cannot afford these changes. The people that have been next to me for over a decade are not financially blessed to afford this.
It really blows my mind, I have Boyd's personal cell number, I dont like the idea of bothering him but this is too much back to back.
27 years since a NC. Also, better win 10 plus every year if going with Bama and Georgia models. It's not "their model of college athletics" but the state of college athletics if you want to win on a level that UT wins on. We are not unique.

Good info. I could feel I bit better about the prices if we were competing in that 1-4 realm. As long as there is a waiting list over 20K for season tickets and you have 18K students via each week for 12K seats, the price of the entertainment will continue to rise. Every year, expect an increase... Player payouts will increase at a higher percentage than 4% each year. got get that money to keep up..
check this out... see what it cost to see those competing every year for CFP spots
I enjoy watching. I don’t enjoy paying exorbitant prices to watch. Cable prices may go up, but I can use cable for more than 7 Saturdays a year. You'll pay more also when the carriage rate goes up for your provider and some will say they get more than you do for less.
Entertainment cost isn't determined by "we won so it was worth it." You either like watching or going and you take your chances on a win or loss.
I'm not defensive at all about it or other prices in my life rising. I recall cutting yards as a very young kid and being upset when gas went over a quarter a gallon. I understand prices going up is annoying and have for many decades.I enjoy watching. I don’t enjoy paying exorbitant prices to watch. How any fan can have any reaction other than “yeah it would be nice if tickets were cheaper” is beyond me. It’s actually kind of weird that you are so defensive about jacked up ticket prices. Accepting is one thing but defending it is another.

Prices rise. Entertainment prices almost always rise when the product is good and SEC football is among the best in the country and UT is a rising program in the SEC. I expect prices to rise as demand increases for a good product.
If the SEC begins to suck and no one wants tickets and prices DO drop, will you be happier because they dropped? I'm thankful we have a program worth watching.
