President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

So you're saying Reagan and Bush 1 were doing more to pay down the debt?

No. The opposite. The deficit grew under them such that interest to pay for debt reached around 15%.

Then Perot ran for President in 92 on a platform solely based on reducing the debt.

Then Clinton won and actually followed through on reducing the debt - balancing the budget by the late 90s.

And had Gore rightfully won in 2000, he would have continued the reduction, but alas, the USSC wrongfully handed the election to Bush..........and now we are where we are.

Clinton did not reduce the debt. It still went up. Debt going down hasn't happened since the 50s.

LOL

Clinton was forced into reducing the deficit.

Actually, there is one year where total debt reduced. It took a Clinton-Gingrich battle and government shutdown to accomplish but it did happen. I'll post the source in an edit.

I was wrong. It was the yearly deficit and not total debt. Total debt only slowed.

Maybe. How tight was he with the Neocons? Do you think he would have given proof of alQaeda's involvement in 9/11 to get the Taliban to hand them over, or would we have invaded and if so for how long? Would Gore have gone along with the Neocons and invaded Iraq? There's a lot of expense in all that.

The rate of increase in deficit spending was greater under Reagan than any president since.

Anytime there is a discussion of spending, debt, etc, and Luther is involved, I can always count on him trotting out this factoid. He loves it. He is pedantic and predictable.

Here's the data by which any interested party can reach their own conclusions:
From 79 to 88: debt increased 315% (the largest margin except during FDR's term where debt increased 1000%)
1.775 trillion was added
4.99 trillion in today's dollars
Debt to GDP ration increased from 32% to 50%

From 07 to 16: debt increased 217%
10.567 trillion was added
13.74 trillion in today's dollars
Debt to GDP ration increased from 68% to 105%

By the way, Trump added more in debt in 4 years than any president in our history and Biden (currently) in on pace to come in second. Yay!

Yep. But even so, Gore accepted the decision and moved on for the sake of the country.
Somethin Trump obviously would never do.
Trump would happily see the country burn if it stoked his ego and/or lined his pocket.
So you’re an election theft conspiracy theorist.

Thanks for proving my point.
Even Reagan's rate of increase in Debt to GDP (56%) was greater than Obama's (54%)

I'll add that factoid to what I trot out every time debt and deficit spending are discussed, or someone attempts to sing the praises of Reagan. He should always and forever be known as the Founding Father of Deficit Spending.

LOL.....2000 is pretty well documented and the facts are universally accepted as such - not much of a conspiracy.

LOL ... early fact checker at work

Okay, but I'm not sure what any of that means.

With your history of all thing MSNBC rhetoric, it has the feels of Jim Jones Cult. We know how it needed

oh.

Well first, I probably haven't seen a total of 10 minutes of MSNBC in my life.
Second, I was simply saying that no one should be supporting either Biden or Trump in any way, shape, or form.
