President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

Thanks for the tips, I have the schematics for the unit including one for the heat strips. The breakers are good, I have 240 volts to the heat strip sequencers and the thermal fuses and elements check good. The sequencers aren't getting the 24 volt control signal to the coils to turn them on. As best I can figure out, I'm not getting the signal from the thermostat to the control board, which in turn sends it to the heat strip sequencers. It's possible I didn't check this properly, but the aux heat signal comes in on a white wire and checked it to common and had no voltage. I considered jumping the white wire to +24 but was worried I could end up frying something through a back feed and end up without any heat.

Since it's going to be warm for the next several days, I went ahead and ordered a new thermostat and a control board. The board was only $30, so I'll keep that as a spare if I'm correct and it is the thermostat like I think. If it's not the thermostat, I'll send that back to Amazon and use the board.

I don't blame you for deciding not to jump the 24v lead. I've got Trane heat pumps at both houses - not identical, but both have a small control board with a relay, and the board has failed once on each of them for the identical reason. There's a resistor that overheats and actually seems to damage the solder connections. I replaced the one here for about $60 I think, but when the other one failed shipping was going to be a problem, so I called a local company. I told the tech what I checked and what I came up with - which was correct, and he replaced the board for about $110 and reasonable labor. He also checked the compressor and Freon for me because that unit has never been as warm as this one (probably my leaky ducts), and answered a couple of questions, so I considered the labor charge a decent investment.

I have both failed boards, and the resistor is common, so an easy fix for backups. I will stand the resistor off from the board - it might work, but I think Trane didn't get the circuit design right. I have motor start capacitors on hand - the only other thing I've ever had to replace. The reason I suggested the thermostat was that my symptom in the other house was the thermostat showed the Aux Heat was on, and blower wasn't running - not good. I recycled stuff and got the blower running and set the thermostat so it would run continuously and kept the house warm over the weekend, and called about service on Monday.

I've never been thrilled with wave soldering used in mass production, but apparently it's the only way anything is affordable these days. I've fixed a number of problems over the years by reheating some of the solder joints, but with smaller components and more dense boards, that getting impossible on a lot of stuff. My garage door opener lights quit coming on, and I just put up with it for a couple of years - a common problem with Chamberlain garage doors (and Chamberlain makes a lot of different brands). One day I smelled smoke and saw a wisp of smoke from the opener, so I decided I had to deal with it. Turns out the lead going to the light sockets on the opener were never hit by the solder bath - not a drop of solder there. I soldered the connection, and it's worked ever since. You'd think a decent QA program would have connected the solder problem out on the edge of the board and a generic light issue.

Why does he need to cancel?

Would his staying suddenly increase temps across America?

That's as dumb as when they went after Cruz last year for going to Mexico.

Paybacks are hell. One side should never be allowed to hold themselves to standards lower than they set for the other side.

I agree. But it was dumb as hell when the lefties blasted Ted Cruz fro vacating Texas last year, too.

I was watching Yellowstone a couple of days ago..and Costner fired his entire policy staff..
A man can dream..

Apparently the awards dont like that show. Too much common sense, guns, meat and freedom.

I tell everybody who will listen if a movie, show, series, gets rave reviews by the critics, run far away from it. The only good stuff is what people like and critics hate.

The movie executives and TV producers get a wild hair every now and then for family stuff, and it blows up..Then they sink back into the gutter.

Shame on you for yapping about something you don't know. Pardon me, you do know from my past posts. I don't spare anybody, I do speak more often of Republiars and your ilk. That's because you guys consistently lie practically daily, even during live broadcasts, and even when shown their own video recorded previous statements. Or records where they made statements, and try to deny them. It's the blatant-repeated lying that provokes my ire. But you do know I have posted comments where I've called out so-called liberals, yet you post the lie above. Par for the course as usual. Shame on your hypocrisy, Carlie.

Your ability to play trolly moley is unlike all other left wing American Marxists.
