Prepare for Steele

Not saying he's a great coach or the right guy for the job.. but.. it's been 15 years (2002) since the guy was a HC. Maybe.. just MAYBE, he's learned something since then.. I, for one, say he's probably learned a little bit. If Phil thinks he's the best guy for the job, then by God he's the best guy for the job.

Ill be okay with whoever is hired outside of Briles, Petrino, and Schiano and Kiffin (maybe). Ill support any coach until i have a reason not to.

Is the fact that his best year as a head coach he only won 3 games and has a 9-36 record reason enough?

Yea and MAYBE Butch will win a national championship at Central Arkansas or wherever he ends up.

Well if that's the direction we are going maybe we should just go
and hire the next one at the same time. We could have a next man up philosophy on the staff.

Surely we can get past the idea that the only person who is qualified or best qualified is someone who
played here. History is littered with coaces going back to their alma mater and failed as head coach.

Steele should be way down any list. Or not even on the list.

Exactly this. ^

You need to get over this. That was a long time ago and no one won at Baylor until Art Briles built it up. Winning at Baylor is akin to winning at Vandy. It's a private Baptist University for crying out loud. What do you expect?

No way I'm ignoring this. A coach with less than 10 wins during a multiyear tenure is a serious candidate to become the head coach of tennessee?

If Fulmer goes the coordinator route it may set UT back another 4-5 years, because many other schools have proven head coaches. why would a recruit chose UT and a coordinator over a school with a proven winning coach?

God forbid if Fulmer hires Steel as HC, UT may not recover for a very long time.:good!:

So let me get this straight. Since his first head coaching job (at Baylor, where, admittedly, he didn’t do well), he has coached under Bobby Bowden, Nick Saban (twice), Dabo Swinney, Les Miles and Gus Malzahn. But we’re still going to talk about how he had a poor start as a head coach (almost two decades ago)? The guy has obviously had success since then, or you’d know that if you’ve done your research. Let’s see, a guy who played at Tennessee, has coached for over 30 years in some capacity, and has learned under the tutelage of some legendary coaches? Yeah I’ll take those odds.

Edit: and fielded some incredible defenses. Give me him as HC and Tee as OC, hell bring in Chief for old times sake.
