Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

Quick "cool story bro." My son went up against Yan Diomande (#11 for Ivory Coast) 3 years ago when Yan played for DME Academy in Daytona. He locked him up (my son is #2) so they moved Yan to the other side of the field. Yan then had 2 goals and an assist in the last 30 minutes. Crazy to think a few years later that he is one of the top young players in the sport and most big clubs trying to sign him. To this day my son smiles when he tells people he pocketed Yan for 60 minutes. And when I say pocketed, I mean it. 0 shots, one cross, and Yan was frustrated. His coach pulled him aside during water break to calm him down before moving him out to the left for the balance of the game.

That is more than just a cool story - that is awesome.

Use that 160 to bring Harry back.
I would definitely prefer that. Or throw 120 of it and 300k+ a week at Wharton.

I like that we’re finally spending the money the fans have always known we have and I know DeZerbi wants to win now but I really wish we would develop Archie, Lucas and Vuskovic this season while we have no European football. I think those 3 will all develop into excellent players in the next couple of years if they can get some regular game time.

Keep Bergvall, add Wharton and pass on Tonali would be great to me.
My dream finish is Wharton, Gakpo and one of either Savinho or Marmoush.

I seriously doubt we get Wharton (I’ve heard nothing about us being in that race) so Tonali is probably the guy once Newcastle figure out no one else is going to offer what we are. There’s at least a little smoke with the other ones but I have a hard time seeing us getting multiple of those caliber of players.

But who knows? This is the most aggressive I’ve ever seen us in the transfer market.

I think Savinho is a done deal, will find out July 1st.

Don’t think he’s worth that but time will tell.

Never seen us spend like this. Maybe we’ll win something and maybe we won’t but at least De Zerbi won’t be able to complain about not getting players in.

He’s better than what yall had so still a positive signing but holy overspend. Maybe he will prove me wrong but he just never really stands out to me when I watch Newcastle.

Market is nuts right now. If Real Madrid want Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea than they better hand over a kings ransom with these midfielders prices I’ve seen this summer so far.

I agree. He’s basically a better version of Bentancur in my eyes. I wouldn’t have gone over 80. But after years of penny pinching, I guess we’ve swung to the other extreme.

This market is crazy. If Tonali can go for 92 plus add ons, Enzo should easily be over 100 (depending on how many years are left on his contract).

If we’re going to sell him, I’d much rather he go to Newcastle. I wouldn’t sell Marinakis a cheeseburger after last summer.

Still think Bergvall is worth 55-60 in this market with how young he is.

Selling/buying within the PL for anyone with a pulse is just silly money at this point. Do I think Roger’s is a good player? Yes. Do I think he’s worth £117 million? No. The prices just are what they are this point. We’ve seen it all window, they won’t be going down anytime soon only going up.

It’s wild but to be expected I guess. Literally everything else is more expensive right now.

Saudis making it rain isn’t exactly helping things. Almost £70M for Crysensio Summerville is insane.

I think last transfer season cost LFC bigly. Squad was thin last year, and now we are Salah-less. Linked with Manu Kone, Andre and Joao Gomes last year who would’ve cost peanuts on the dollar. Now these types of players are going for $50M+. They left a lot of work to this window and the inflation on soccer players is real.

Will be all the more difficult because this is a post-WC transfer window where some players values are especially inflated. Not sure if you guys were linked with anyone who had an especially good WC, but if, expect to pay a massive premium. Everton were rumored to be in for Djed Spence this window, but we’re now almost certainly priced out because he had two and a half great games and one incredible tackle.
