Is that a playoff or just a cup tournament?
The Cup is scheduled to start in GW35
Fixtures will be determined at the end of Gameweek34. If there are 16 teams in the associated league, then each team will have an opponent in Gameweek 35. If there are between 9 and 15 teams in the league, some teams will receive a bye in Gameweek35 based on their score in Gameweek 34.

The starting round of the cup is determined by the number of teams in the associated league and the final will be contested in Gameweek 38.

You will not be entered into the cup if you have joined the league after the Gameweek prior to the cup starting.

How the cup works
Each team will be randomly drawn against another unless they have received a bye. The winner (the team with the highest Gameweek score minus any transfer points), will progress to the next round and another random draw, the losers are out! This process continues until the final round when the two remaining teams contest the cup final. If a cup match is drawn, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:

  1. Most goals scored in the Gameweek
  2. Fewest goals conceded in the Gameweek
  3. Virtual coin toss

Fantasy Premier League is quite a different beast compared to American Fantasy Football. There is quite a bit more strategy involved in FPL.

Interesting. Even last year I never realized this because I lost the cup quite early but my finishing spot still was determined by games after I was knocked out 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s pretty much like how the EPL and the FA Cup run alongside each other. Can still win the league after losing first round of the cup. Or you can finish dead last in the league but still win a trophy with the Cup.

Ok, so this what I thought it was. Then I heard playoffs and I thought y’all were saying the end of the year goes to playoff/cup to crown the league winner and I was confused.

Once again, just really struggle with what the point of VAR is. Almost identical tackles this weekend, but one ends in red and one is just a common foul. The only difference is Casemiro slid in and the Leicester defender lunged in, and also the Leicester foul occurred at like the 2 minute mark of the start of the game and Casemiro was at 34 minute mark. Also, the ref on the field for Leicester/Chelsea, was on VAR duty for the United/Southampton the next day. 😂 It’s just maddening how inconsistent and incompetent VAR is. There was also apparently a big VAR Miss in the Newcastle match that I’ve seen mentioned but haven’t seen video of yet. Another disappointing weekend for refs and VAR.

Man, I took Haaland to score, by header, +625 with my boost. I can't help myself, he's probably going to score and he is 6'4, so why not a header. Plus, he is -200 (-150 with the boost), anytime scorer, not worth it. I like my chances, today, but I am a degenerate gambler
