Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

And of course Romero is out. He’s frustrating as hell, but that still hurts.

And I still think that should have been a 2nd yellow on Brobbey and a spot kick.
Definitely should’ve been a 2nd yellow. Not sure it would’ve changed the outcome since we looked very unlikely to score but I still would’ve liked to have seen it called.

Interesting read here. Basically the thesis is that the root of Spurs problem is that they don’t have anyone in the squad who can pass. Now with Romero out for the year, they’ve only got ONE player in the top 150 passers in the entire PL. Not great.

Atletico vs Arsenal. A 2 leg tie that has the potential to be more boring than watching paint dry. And also feels like another gift for Arsenal. Maybe Atletico surprise me but Barcelona handed those wins over with a red card in each leg.
This is not your Grandpa's Atleti. They have the organization defensively of their old teams, but finally with the sting at the top. Lookman and Julian Alvarez have given them potency. They are no longer Griezmann or bust. Sorloth can come into the game much like Olivier Giroud and scores a lot of goals per minutes played. Athlet are nearly unbeatbale at home (unless they play Barcelona). They have the soul of their coach. They play like a family. They are probably thinking the opposite of you. They are excited to draw Arsenal this round.

Leeds is safe now.

Looks like Spurs will not be playing Leicester in the Championship next season.
Who could have imagined when they were going blow for blow chasing the title in 2016 that ten years later one would be headed for League One and the other needing a pretty big upturn in form to stay in the PL?

Spurs struggles are obviously grabbing all the headlines and helping it to fly under the radar a bit, but Newcastle have quietly had a pretty awful season.
