I think we have a good shot at 9-3 or maybe if everything comes together just right we could see 10-2,alot of if's but hey it could happen!

I'm not sure what our record will be but I think the Gators with Leak will be the game for both teams.

Foster, Coker, and Hardesty
Holbert forced to play tailback with Anderson blocking
No worse than 9-3..(To keep the topic in mind.) Holbert under CDC, who knows? It wouldnt offend me to see him get looks in short yardage,to looks at TE by design.

well as long as we are making wild predictions

12-0
foster breaks the school rushing record
hardesty steps up to complement foster over coker
the o-line jells
the d-line is going to be almost as good as last year with less personal fouls
that secondary will be unstoppable
wide recivers get the head out of there butt and catch balls thanks to trooper
cutliffe brings back the pass to the tight end and ainge gets his head on straight
we lose the national championship to oklahoma 21-24 on a pass intefernce on d-mo that puts them in field goal range to kick the winning field goal..
adrian peterson wins the heisman and proves to be too much for us...

I'm rolling with this one, right here!

Someone please tell the ST coach to give Brent Vinson a chance to return kicks. I have seen this kid play and he has the ability to take one to the house.

We will be better because Cut will make sure we execute. If that translates to wins is anyone's guess.

Win - Sept. 2 CAL
Win - Sept. 9 AIR FORCE
??? - Sept. 16 FLORIDA
Win - Sept. 23 MARSHALL
Win - Sept. 30 Memphis
??? - Oct. 7 UGA
Win - Oct. 21 BAMA
Win - Oct. 28 South Carolina
??? - Nov. 4 LSU
Win - Nov. 11 Arkansas
Win - Nov. 18 Vanderbilt
Win - Nov. 25 KENTUCKY

Question Marks:
UF - Has been a really close one for a couple years straight. Also lost this one with turnovers and penalties. If we play contoled game, we'll win.
UGA - Same explanation as UF.
LSU - Same explanatoin as UF.

Probable Wins:
CAL - Think we'll beat CAL by a couple TD's. Reading up on them their defense is weak link. They'll come to town and feel the power of Neyland Stadium.
Bama - Lost with a bad offense only by a heart breaking fumble. Next year we will get revenge in a big way.

Wins:
Air Force - Good guys serving our country but not top notch players.
Marshall - Just not enough good players.
Memphis - Won't be playing Bball.
South Carolina - Don't think they'll get it done two years in a row. See this one possibly with many TD's for the Vols. Get back at the Evil One.
Arkansas - No need for explanation.
Vanderbilt - Got in their 20yr win and well deserved. Don't see this happening twice.
Kentucy - Won't be playing in Rump Arena.

I see our question marks next year, no surprise, as UF, UGA and LSU. If we mess all three up then we'll be 9-3. Don't see that happening. Think we'll either 10-2 or better. Of course, I am the eternal optimist.

I agree with almost everything you got with the exception of FL and Arkansas. Florida has talent but CLM is not that good of a coach imo, I think they completely blow up this year and he is one year from the door. Arkansas on the other hand will be a really strong team this year in the sec. I havesaid it before, they do not like us and step up for that game, they will not start Mustain this year because Casey Dick will be a great qb competing for his job. They can always run the ball, and now they are loaded up with 6'2" and above receivers that are very quick. I know it sounds like I'm a hogs fan, but that is really the only team that I am really worried about. They might have new offensive coaches but HOuston is still going to be calling the plays, he had to hire a O coordinater to get the pressure off his back, and might as well get one that will bring in your "savior" qb recruit. I think we will be great however and beat them close. Overall record 11-1. SEC championship but no NC because we have 1 loss and start so low in the rankings.

11-1 or 10-2. On paper it looks like we'll lose to LSU. Florida's up in the air. Everyone thought UGA lost to much to compete last year but all they really lost were big names. This year they really loose to many key players (i.e. most of their d-line, secondary, and o-line not to mention Shockley). I'm not saying they won't compete I just think IF we straighten things out we'll be too talented for them (first time in years).

Dubb76, I disagree about Meyer. Even if they blow up and lose alot this year (unlikely), I think he gets at least enough time to develop the recruiting class he just brought in.

I hate to ask this, but has anyone noticed Urban's initials? Fulmer is CPM. Miles is CLM. Saban was CNS. Urban is CUM. I can't help but think that I'm not the first person to realize this....but I had to at least make sure, even at the expense of making an ass of myself.

I think you guys have a shot at going 11-1, if you really show up versus LSU, Florida, and UGA. I wouldn't discount South Carolina, tho. 12-0 I can't see happening to any SEC team this year.

Why is everyone so high on S.C.? They were NOT that good of a team last year! Yes, they beat UT, but who didn't? SS is a great coach but he just does not have the talent there that he was so successful with at FLA.

I agree 100%. Their winning season last year was as flukey as our loosing season. They were not good, just had the ball bouce the right way for them enough to have a winning season. I also didnt think FL was that good last year. I might sound crazy here but the better team last year didnt walk off the field with a win last year between FL and TN and we all kknow how bad we were. I think all three FL, SC, and Georgia are all going to be down next year, but maybe rebound the following.

This is what I love about CFB. Nobody really knows whats going to happen. With the turnover of teams from year to year (take UGA this year) you never know what a team is going to do or react to adverse situations. As for UGA I think we will be pretty much set for all positions except maybe the two most important ones QB and DL. At Qb we are stacked with Talent but not much expierence (look out for FR Matthew Stafford check him out) same at DL lots of talent but now experience. To me the SEC east comes down to teams that can stay healthy because it looks like most teams are not very deep with backups with much playing expierence. As for UT I think the players will be playing with a chip on their shoulders and Coach Cutt will have a scheme that will be successfull against most teams. The key here is execution, I think in all probablitly you have a shot at between 8-4 to 10-2 it just depends on health of players and when you catch the other teams. JMO

All I know is that he is officially been contacted with him. We would hate to loose him since he is a great asset on the recruiting trail. Good news is he is stuck on Cruise with CMR and the rest of the UGA staff for a week.

Here's what I think:

Cal--?. Average QB, very good RB/WR duo with DeSean Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, but lost 3 seniors from the OL. TN comes out firing and proves that the discipline and execution problems of last year are in the past (that's of course assuming CPF and co. do get a handle on it). The reason there's a ? is Ainge; if he starts out well and gets some confidence, he'll be fine. But if he starts to lose it, his implosion would be so great as to create a black hole right there in the middle of Neyland Stadium.

Florida--?. Chris Leak blossomed into a great passing QB last year, but isn't much of a dual threat anymore, and he just lost his top two receivers (So will Percey Harvin make big contributions as a freshman?). Plus, their leading rusher last year, DeShawn Wynn, had only 2 games with 100+ rushing yards (on 16 and 19 carries). Against TN last year? 17 carries for 52 yards. TN will have problems moving the ball against this defense, though. This team is beatable, but as always it's gonna be close.

Marshall--Win. Is there a position on the field where TN doesn't match up with more talent than the Thundering Herd?

@Memphis--They went 6-5 with DeAngelo Williams. Now they don't have him or their seinior QB. Should be a much easier game to win than in years past (though last year we didn't have to face him, thank god).

@Georgia--? This could be a tougher game than many people who think Georgia is down this year believe. Thomas Brown and Danny Ware make up a very good backfield, and the O-Line will be good. They still have a big ? at QB, but Stafford is very good; don't forget Ainge went into GA as a freshman and got a victory.

Alabama--Win. Didn't generate much offense last year, and won't generate much this year, especially with the loss of Tyrone Prothro. They always play TN with high emotions (from what, passion? searing anger? rage burning hotter than the fire of a thousand suns? Who cares?) , but with Cutcliffe at the helm the offense should be able to move the ball more effectively, and TN should come away with the win.

@South Carolina--W. As has already been pointed out, had an incredibly lucky year with some of their victories. Sidney Rice is their only real offensive threat, and TN's secondary is much improved this year. Look for the Philsbury Doughboy to get some sweet, sweet revenge on Spurrier.

LSU--Loss. With an intact O-line, returning RB, and one of the top QBs in the SEC, LSU will find a way to move the ball against TN's defense. TN will also probably have a hard time running the ball on this defense, and when TN is a one-dimensional
passing team is when they're a losing team. (That bowlgame was an impressive showing)

@Arkansas--Win. McFadden and Jones were perhaps the best freshman HB combo last year, with both averaging 6.3 ypc. But TN's improved secondary will limit their offense, and their suspect defense will be exposed by an improved UT squad.

@Vanderbilt--Win. Without Jay Cutler to distribute the football, this team isn't an upset waiting to happen anymore. Look for the Vols to reestablish their usual late-november reign this year.

Kentucky--Win. Underwhelming as always (except when they had the fat QB), Kentucky was dominated by last year's team. If TN improves like everyone expects this year, then you can go ahead and expect a victory here as well.

So, anywhere from 8-4 to 11-1, but I'm gonna go ahead and say 10-2, with losses to GA and LSU.

with bruce pearl firing up everyone about basket ball and most even other sports (women's volleyball), mabe he can stop by at a football game and fire up the crowd some at Neyland stadium and make 107,000 people sound like 107,000 people

vs. California - Tedford had some offensive miscues last year, and on paper I'd say Tennessee has a definite advantage because Cal lost so much talent on OL (imo best OL in the country last season). We'll see how Tedford reacts. But recent early season Pac-10 outings at a certain SEC powerhouse make me think this may be the time said SEC school doesn't get lucky in the end.

vs. Air Force - Win. Time to start getting some more Afro-Americans on that squad, Mr. DeBerry.

vs. Florida - Now Meyer starts implementing his offense in Florida. They will be playing different next year. Who knows. This game is up in the air.

vs. Marshall - Next

at Memphis - We fell asleep and beat them last season... And same as this season, no DeAngelo Williams.

at Georgia - This is the scary game. Except for '04 Richt has Fulmer's number on speed dial. Hopefully Ainge has his act together and can lead us to another win Between the Hedges. Georgia by 4

vs. Alabama - Brodie Croyle is on an NFL roster and still gets sacked 6 times at Neyland. Tennessee wins again

at South Carolina - Don't expect any letdown from last season guys. Spurrier got a bowl bid with arguably the least talent of any team in the SEC. Their squad was so depleted it was literally comparable with Kentucky. South Carolina will be a contender.

vs. LSU - Miles chokes again. Tennessee wins by 3 with a TD in the last two minutes.

at Arkansas - As some have stated, very underrated team. Tennessee wins by 10 but only if they're on the guys are on their a-game

at Vanderbilt - They were like a 3rd rate Pac-10 team with Cutler leading the offense and no defense. They lose Cutler, and now they are once again just a 3rd rate team.

vs. Kentucky - Easiest game on the schedule. Send out the intramural squad to make it a game

So to sum up...

California - W... I think
Air Force - W
Florida - W only 'causeo homefield
Marshall - W
Memphis - W
Georgia - L
Alabama - W
South Carolina - W
LSU - W
Arkansas - L
Vanderbilt - W
Kentucky - W

Explaining that Arkansas L... I think the team gets loose for the end of the schedule a little too early and Arkansas sneaks up on the guys.

Final result... 6-2 SEC, 2nd place in the SEC East, Cotton Bowl

I think most of you have hit the nail on the head on this....

LSU and UF will be the toughies this season, and bein in Knoxville, well, you all pointed it out, isn't exactly as intimidating as it used to be.

I think though, we'll get caught w/out pants down in one additional game....UGA, Bama, USC, CAl are the ??? for me in that order. I say 9-3. And look out for Ark. I think they will be much better in 06. that game at Ark, will be very, very tough. But it is late enough in the season, where we should know where we stand and same for them. If both teams are off to good starts, that'll be one heck of a game.
