Pre fall camp offensive depth chart predictions

Edited on 7/24

To sum up, the most controversial change is the QB. I won't get into an argument with anyone if they believe HB will win it out. There isn't any glaringly new info I've gotten (unless you count that pic of him built like Cam Newton) and CJH saying he capable of utilizing his legs.

I've included J. Payton. I think he's going to be huge. I think he'll be one of our top WRs this year.

I believe Beckwith will be used more as a slot receiver and wing than a traditional TE. I suppose we'll continue to list him as a RB because he'll be the short yardage RB. I'm salivating about how we'll use him in the red zone in particular. He's going to cause defensive coordinators fits trying to figure out where we'll line him up in the red zone. The defense won't know whether to trot out a LB to stop the run or a DB to defend his 6'5" frame.

In reality, it'll probably have to be a LB tasked with covering him in most RZ situations

Yeah, not bad.

My only question would be at TE, depends on how they want to use that position, Fant could get on field before Pope.

I agree. I've got Pope there as the base TE in "11" personnel. Obviously, when we have one without a hand in the dirt, he won't be near the field. But we have to believe he gets penciled in as the starter because he's the best blocker.

I always enjoy these and since our roster seems almost solidified for the fall, I thought it might be fun to throw the first out there post spring practice. For offense, I've used 11 personnel for base. Also note that instead of listing different names on the OL two deep, I've attempted to anticipate how I believe they'd actually be shuffled for depth in an in-game scenerio. I'd be happy to give my take on the defense as well.

QB: 1) Milton
2) Bailey

RB: 1) Small
2) Evans/Beckwith

WR: 1) Tillman
2) Keyton

WR: 1) V. Jones
2) Callaway

WR: 1) Hyatt
2) Payton

TE: 1) Pope
2) Fant/Warren

OC: 1) Co. Mays
2) Locklear

OG: 1) Ca. Mays
2) Carvin

OG: 1) Spraggins
2) Carvin

OT: 1) Wright
2) Calbert

OT: 1) Davis
2) Ca. Mays
Biggest question mark there fore is QB. Everything else is also about how I would pick it as well.

QB is a mess right now, even though we saw some good things.

RB looks about right, but Wright is ahead of Evans right now.

What about defense?

I'm as fired up as anyone about Wright, particularly with his speed and this offense, but I'm going to give him a little time to get acclimated before I increase my expectations for him this season as a true freshman.

I think the most important thing Beckwith can contribute is being able to pass block and catch the ball out of the backfield. I'm not sure how Evans is in that department but pass blocking is something our RBs have struggled with for as long as I can remember.
