6:10 start

Grant Ramey:
Jalen Hurd in a green non-contact jersey for today's practice, along with JRM, Austin Smith and Jauan Jennings. #BUTWHATDOESITMEAN

Preston Williams isn't scared of the jugs machine. https://vine.co/v/5qbudQweKqE

I'm calling this game JUGS Machine Chicken. And Preston Williams is pretty good at it. @GrantRamey on Twitter: "I'm calling this game JUGS Machine Chicken. And Preston Williams is pretty good at it. https://t.co/EAc2M145Wj"

Dustin Dopirak: So we actually saw some 11-on-11 today, but we were told to use discretion when it comes to lineups, so won't put all of those out...... but I can apparently get away with telling you that Drew Richmond and Chance Hall were the first-team tackles. Also, Emmanuel Moseley picked off a back shoulder throw by Josh Dobbs when first-team O played first-team D. Johnathan Kongbo, running with the 2s, recorded a tackle for loss, stuffing Jeremy Lewis in the backfield.

Austin Bornheim: A second take was all Josh Malone needed. http://twitter.com/ABornheim/status/761337030248804352/video/1

Emmanuel Moseley had a nice INT of Josh Dobbs in 11-on-11. Located the ball, caught it on back shoulder in front of Preston Williams.

Patrick Brown: Emmanuel Moseley had a nice interception, and Baylen Buchanan had a couple of nice plays. Jonathan Kongbo made his presence felt, too.

The team started with the circle of life again with Austin Pope getting some revenge on Daniel Bituli. Nathan Niehaus also won his rep in the circle against Kahil McKenzie. Shy Tuttle was on the field and going through some walk-thru type periods.

During the team period, Jason Croom had a nice catch and run in showcasing some solid athleticism through the secondary. Emmanuel Mosley picked off the only pass that went vertical which was a slightly under thrown ball from Dobbs. Jonathan Kongbo made a very nice play with the 2s and it was a great showing for the defense.

During the 1on1 stuff between the line of scrimmage, I though Kongbo and Vereen showed very well. And I'll continue to add that Danny O'Brien showcases a different attitude as he pushed the guard into the quarterback.
Austin Price

No surprise that those defensive ends Butch has been bragging on showed up tonight. Derek Barnett did some damage in 1-on-1 work against Chance Hall. Barnett was the only guy that Hall went against that he seemed to have any problems with. He handled Latroy Lewis and Darrell Taylor easily when matched up with them.

Kongbo and Drew Richmond had a couple of good battles. Looked like Kongbo beat him good once and Richmond handled him the other time.

Kendell Vickers and Khalil McKenzie both had a couple of nice reps, got some real good push up the middle. McKenzie in particular had one really nice rep against Wiesman. Coleman Thomas nicely handled Picou and O'Brien a couple of times.
Rob Lewis

No live carries for Kamara or Hurd. In the passing game, Tyler Bryd had a catch and a ball get through his hands although it was high.

The story of the 11 on 11 work was the defensive front. Jonathan Kongbo showed up a couple of times both in pass rush and a stop in the run game on Jeremy Lewis. Kongbo runs well. No question.

Rob Lewis said this and I agree, Darrell Taylor is one of the best third team defensive ends I've seen this program have.

Dobbs did have a nice run on a qb keeper. Jarrett G. showed solid touch on a swing pass in the flat. Vincent Perry was open and had a drop of a Jarrett G.

But again, overall it as a win for the defense.
Hubbs

The first team offense had Malone, Williams and Smith at receiver, Kamara at RB (Hurd was in a green jersey), Richmond, Robertson, Thomas, Wiesman, Hall from left to right on the offensive line. Wolf and Croom rotated in at tight end. Kelly came in after that

(Side note - Brett Kendrick had a class obligation because it's the end of the semester)

That group went against Lewis, McKenzie, Vickers, O'Brien, Barnett, Vereen on the line rotated in. McDowell and Kirkland were LBs with Sutton, Moseley, Foreman, Kelly Jr and Gaulden in the defensive backfield.

Dormady led the second team offense and the offense didn't do much damage out there. Jeremy Lewis had a couple of carries with the second team and Baylen Buchanan made a couple of nice tackles on the edge as the second team corner. Justin Martin was the other second team corner. Stephen Griffin and Nigel Warrior were the second group of safeties out there. Osborne was the nickel.

Kongbo and Phillips were the two defensive ends with the second team. Jumper and Sapp were the second team linebackers.

I thought the defensive line had a good day outside of Dobbs getting loose on the first play. Given, Hurd, Kamara and Kelly didn't touch the ball.

Grant Ramey: Fall camp includes camp pride stickers. A few different varieties. 63 (effort), $$$ and one for 'hunt the ball'

Vols did some full team, 11-on-11 football in their third period today and after Josh Dobbs had a nifty run early, followed by a catchable pass to Ethan Wolf that saw the chains moved for defensive pass interference, Emmanuel Moseley, who opened as the 1 corner opposite Cam Sutton, made a nice interception. Also liked a slick Dobbs to Jason Croom pass; wasn't elegant or anything but just a good, effective play.

Defensively, I will say this: Pursuit is at a level I've not seen under this staff at any point in time. It's an obvious emphasis, even in individuals, and this group is buying in. Cool to see Bob Shoop work so much with his safeties and be so hands-on, especially already as they're reading tight ends, running backs etc.

Oh, the first-five offensive line featured a big-time shakeup: The group from left to right, Drew Richmond, Jashon Robertson, Dylan Wiesman, Jack Jones, Chance Hall.

-- Linebackers Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Austin Smith and wide receiver Jauan Jennings continue to wear green no-contact jerseys as they recover from spring injuries. Junior running back Jalen Hurd also wore a green no-contact jersey, but he does that frequently as a precaution.

Patrick Brown: How remarkable is Tennessee's situation at DE? Darrell Taylor, who regularly impresses when you watch him, is a third-teamer at this point.

If the jugs machine is any indication of how good Preston's hands are going to be, this is going to be a very good year for him!!

So they say that Butch requested discretion in regards to the 11 on 11 lineup and one of the reporters then puts out the first team for both sides. Nice.
