From 247 Sports: The Vols worked in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts during an approximately two hour workout on a sunny late fall afternoon in Knoxville. Two practice periods were open for reporters to watch, but photography and video weren’t allowed for one of them.

For the third consecutive week, the Vols spent Tuesday in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts. Jones mentioned after last weekend’s 27-24 win over South Carolina that the Vols have been too banged up to practice in full pads for a while, and apparently that still was the case Tuesday. In fairness, though, it’s not at all uncommon for college teams to practice in full pads less and less as the rigors of the season lead to more nicks and bruises.

SAME GREEN TEAM: The same trio of players who have been in green, limited-contact jerseys for a while — sophomore running backs Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara and sophomore wide receiver Josh Malone — were in green, limited-contact jerseys Tuesday.

O-LINE STUFF: We didn’t notice or hear of any major changes to the first-team offensive line, but it’s worth reporting that sophomore Brett Kendrick — who hasn’t played in a few weeks while battling through a couple of injuries — was on the practice field Tuesday in at least a limited capacity. Of course, it’s also worth noting that Kendrick did similar things last Tuesday but didn’t play against South Carolina.

Junior wide receiver Marquez North continues to practice, but he still continues to look less than 100 percent healthy, and we’ll see if he plays this week against North Texas. On the surface, there seems to be little reason to play him against the Mean Green. But we’ll see what happens there.

Quay Picou and Stephen Griffin got their stripes removed.

MAHONEY on injuries: I think as a staff offensively we have put together a plan to deal with any potential scenario.

AZZANNI: At this point in the season, as much as you'd like to work on fundamentals, you have to work on scheme.

STRIPLING: I think Owen Williams is doing a really good job. He had a little something to prove on Saturday.

Mike DeBord said he chose not to run Dobbs much in the 2nd half vs SC and kinda sorta hinted at it being an injury-influenced decision.

North has a back injury, and as anyone that has ever had one can tell you, they can flare up and spasm at any point in time. I'd like for them to just rest him until they can get it fixed and try to get him ready for next year, we will need him if we are to make a run

Just put North on the sidelines for the remainder of the season and hope he can get a few catches next year. Even if he goes out there in the Mizz or Vandy game, he will not have seen game action in so many weeks I doubt he will be productive and has struggled to get separation anyway... Any word on P Williams or is his hammy still messed up? Geez, North, Croom, and Williams... on and off all season. We have these guys at full strength the entire season along with a few others not injured like Tuttle and Gaulden playing, put at least two more W's in the stat book... With all this time off the past two seasons I saw where Croom has been using his scholly to get ahead of schedule graduating.

Hindsight of course, but I wish he had redshirted.

I hate needles.
But, I have heard that acupuncture can help with back spasms. Wonder if they've tried that.

I hope Mr. Blair can get his wide black stripe removed prior to the bowl game.

This is Blair's helmet.

I don't understand how a group of receivers can be this banged up, this late in the season, two years in a row. Not saying it's anyone's fault, but this appears to be a trend. We were down to just a few healthy recievers at this same point last year. Smh.
