Here's a more obscure but definitely one of my favorite Robert Duvall films The Great Santini. Gametime you seen this one?

He was a force in so many roles...got a little "mannered" later, like most actors who had their favorite tricks, but never phoned it in. And was great in supporting roles, too. Talented writer and director, too. "The Apostle" was fantastic. And his Oscar-winning role as Mac Sledge in "Tender Mercies" was an outstanding performance.

Some lesser-known Duvall movies, all highly-recommended:

Tomorrow (written by the great Horton Foote)
THX-1138 (early George Lucas)
The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid (as Jesse James)
A Family Thing (as long-lost brother of James Earl Jones)
Get Low
The Stars Fell on Henrietta
Rambling Rose
Open Range
Broken Trail

That movie is from the Book by Pat Conroy, who also wrote the Prince of Tides, The Lords of Discipline and many other great books. He was from the coast here in South Carolina. Duvall was awesome in that movie.
