The old man that first got "The Blob" on his arm, was character actor "Olin Howard." He was better known as the drunk in the movie "Them" that yelled out "make me a sergeant and charge the booze"...

Poor guy (Olin Howard) found the blob and didn't know what it was....

The use of the CO2 fire extinguishers in the movie has always stayed with me....When I was an EMT and went on an emergency call, the house had a small fire...The owner was injured so I put the small fire out with a CO2 he had been trying to get to when he broke his leg.....As I extinguished the flames, I thought about that movie....

GameTime, thanks for the memory. This, along with “The Creature From The Black Lagoon” and ”The Thing” were all about that time frame. Scariest to me in my young teens was Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”. I lived about two miles outside town and walked home from that movie in the middle of the street while whistling. Everybody knows that whistling keeps all the bad stuff away, right?

Ben, Around 1985 I paid extra to do a "mostly private tour" of Universal Studios backlot...We stopped at Bates Motel, and while there, I walked up the hill behind the motel to the Old House facade to see what it looked like up close....Of course, it was all front and the back was just mostly framing....Some of the stucco was falling apart too...

We went to the beach area that was used in the Creature movie too...Some of the trees and bushes were fake...That way they could move them into the shot when needed....Although most of the outdoor shots were filmed in Florida, a number of the scenes were backlot master pieces...

Now, "The Thing from Another World" to this young boy at the time, was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen....When it was killing the sled dogs, I got very angry because I love dogs and told my mom to make it stop hurting the dogs....She told me they were just playing, not to worry, but I was still angry and scared too...Later I was afraid to go to sleep, but my mom put on Gunsmoke and said see son, the thing is now a marshall and is a good guy too...I felt so relieved...Foot note...I went and visited my mother's grave yesterday and here we are talking about her today (at least I am)...The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Great lookin dogs....

This barricade made no sense...The door opened out and was no problem for "The Thing" to get through...

I remember diving behind the seat in front of me at the theater, when they opened the door and "The Thing" was standing there...Pure horror!

Scene from the original movie "The Blob"

This movie is a lot of fun to watch and has some memorable moments to enjoy....This is the scene as the kids run out of the theater because "The Blob" is trying to get them....There is an extra girl in this scene, that is wearing a red blouse, and gets the hell knocked out of her as she flees with the crowd...The scene is shot from several angles and she accidentally gets ran over and knocked all over the place ....

The Blob was made out of Silicone and red dye....Yes, the same type of silicone that is/was used for breast augmentations...You didn't think I was going to show the other use did you?

Also, the film was the first film for Steve McQueen... His love interest was later the love interest for Andy Griffin on Mayberry...

I particularly liked the diners scene and the initial scene where the small blob jumped from the stick onto the old man's arm

Coach, when the Blob is coming out of the theater, a girl wearing a pink dress comes out of the diner and sees it coming...She does a quick double hop as she turns to the right to run away........Here she is....Her double hop broke the theater up into laughter...

Tell me how certain movies stick in your mind... I can remember this movie as if it were yesterday. The lonesome howl of the dog when stephen is girlfriend find the old man... The people going to the school to get the cans of c 02... In the end where they take the blob to the arctic and drop it off for permanent freeze

The Lady or the Tiger.....

Which was behind the door, when the accused was forced by decree to choose....Was it life with a lovely, but unknown woman, or was it death by the fangs of the hungry Tiger?

I've always been intrigued by the story......Since the story has no written conclusion, but leaves the answer to the imagination of the reader, it has perplexed many generations to give their opinion...

What say you....The Lady or the Tiger?

Before Stevie Nicks, and the rest of whatever's left of Fleetwood Mac, pass away into the night, their rendition of "Rhiannon" may have been one of the greatest performances ever put on video tape.....I'm fairly certain they were loaded with some form of stimuli, but damn guys, Stevie " just explodes" off the screen with her screaming lyrics....I feel lucky to have just heard this woman...When she comes out of her twirling dance, about 4 minutes into the song, she metamorphoses into Rhiannon and becomes legend......
