I do NOT want Gunter Brewer. I do not like his offensive style. I'd prefer a true pro-style to that hybrid crap he brings.

Leave them all dammit this is Tennessee not freakin LT.

So you don't want what could be two up and coming coaches because they are at LA Tech? How else will small school coaches prove they have what it takes without bigger schools giving them chances. Sometimes I question the intelligence of some posters.

you should text CDD immediately with this information. But you may want to provide some legitimate information as to why before you make te claim.

Dude, I'm pretty sure we hired someone from N.D. last year. Not Notre Dame, North Dakota. Chill with your small thinking. Everyone starts somewhere.

Yep it was Willie Mack Garza DBs coach, looks like for now he is being retained. I don't understand it either why people don't want small school coaches, everyone has to start some where....

If we lose Chaney, GOD forbid, then I say we go after Jeff Jagodzinski. He should be sitting on a couch somewhere waiting for a call.

You forget...as of Friday, we are now officially "the University of Low Expectations.". We can't go after promising coaches. They don't fit our depleted budget.

It has to be someone nobody has ever heard of, or from a losing team...those are the only guys qualified for Hamilton's staff.

Please explain to me who we should have gotten that would be willing to come so late in the recruiting season that we didn't already try to bring in. I love UT, and Yes, it is still a top level job. But, not to understand the position that the previously unnamed coach put us in is simply ignorant. Lame's untimely leaving is much more of the problem than Hamilton ever was. Just seems to me that too many people think we can just wave our "UT" wand and Coach Lambardi, himself will appear and lead us to victory. Get a clue!

You get a clue...this happens every year. You act like coaching hires are a sudden catastrophic event. Every coach that has any level of success knows some schools will come calling. So, there's no way, as you proclaim, that this caught Wittingham, Peterson, Patterson, Edsall, etc...offgaurd.

Thank you for playing...now tell him what lovely parting gifts he's won, Bob!

You still didn't answer the question. Yes, this does happen every year. But, we did offer several other coaches the job. And, unless you have some sort of spy in there, how do you know who else they called to see if there was any interest? But, you probably right. Hamilton is set on picking the worst coach available! :post-4-1090547912:

Pretty sure Ok St's offense has been in the Top 10 the past 2 yrs under his guidance.

Coaching changes happen every year, for sure. But the timing of this particular search is NOT typical for a major college job.

Don't be stupid. Hamilton will be held accountable for the decision to hire Kiffin in time... of that, I'm pretty sure. But given the circumstances, he probably did the best he could. It has nothing to do with "low expectations". It has to do with the practical realities of the situation. The "promising" coaches see clearly what was left in Kiffin's wake- a depleted roster and recruiting class that was sure to erode at least some. The "promising" coaches know that's a recipe for a very short, unsuccessful tenure.

This isn't "typical" or normal for a coaching change. Kiffin hosed UT... period. He didn't even get a good start on the job he committed to do before selfishly jumping ship. The guy is a louse. The guy preached commitment and hard work... then betrayed his own commitment and took the "easy way" by going to a team already loaded.

Jumping from LA Tech to UT is a big jump. Let them get better at a lower-tier program.

I really want Garner and for us to keep Thompson. I like the Co-DC idea.

Dude, there have been no announcements of staff being hired, that i know of...just relax and be thankful we don't have the big name staff we had. We are better off with what we will have...

I'm surprised that a DC has not yet been named. If Chaney stays, then recruits should know what to expect on that side of the ball. IMO, Monte was the only real loss from a coaching standpoint -- we need to get a DC named quickly as well to help finalize this class.
