Post Spring Depth Chart

He really opened my eyes in the spring game. Dude is going to be a weapon for sure, especially in the red zone!

Let's hope Butch is willing to take advantage of George's size and apparent ability in the redzone this year. He's been very hesitant to do so our other big, talented WRs the past couple years.

Zing! Oh man, you got me.

I'm willing to bet if Jumper doesn't play in the games we lost last year then chances we could have pulled out 2 more W's greatly increase.

He's not the sole reason we lost but he was a matador on some key plays and TD's we gave up on D in those games.

We likely would have won the OK game if Jumper weren't playing. But that's not on him IMO. That's on the coaches that put him in. He was playing (hopefully to the best of his ability). The coaches shouldn't have had him in.

George did not have a good spring! He had a good spring game because so many WR's did not play. Will see if he gets a chance when everyone is healthy. According to reports, he had lots of drops in practice. We will see!

If he can produce when the lights come on, that is great!

Also, Colton was only a true sophomore last year with very little to no game experience. Like our other players, the kid can get bigger, stronger and better this year. He'll never be in DKJr's or JRM's league athletically, but perhaps he can actually get better and serve as a competent backup. No reason for anybody to trash the kid. You're right Kristy...the coaches put him out there, there's no doubt he was doing his best, and if he wasn't good enough it's on the coaches, not him.

Our DE depth is insane good. Not even in the 2 deep is Lewis, Taylor, and Smith (assuming he's a true DE and not some hybrid.

Am I really only seeing two true freshmen in the two deep? That's something new and a good feeling. I do agree with D4H about Byrd and Latrell Williams though. They both look really good on film anyways.

I thought it had been well-established that the coaching shutdown in the second half lost the OU game. That's what it looked like from my seat as well in section Y. Jumper got burned on a few plays but he was far from the only one. Mayfield made our linemen look silly trying to ankle-grab him. Also I remember we gave them a free call shoving the guy outside the endzone on a Hail Mary that missed badly and should have been game-ending. Was that Jumper? I don't think he's ever starter material, but few are at this level. I say he will get some good reps in when Kirkland needs a breather.

I tend to agree but for a couple

Jones I could see at either G or T
Kendrick battles Richmond for LT
McDowell ahead of Jumper with Bynum right there
Robertson's a G /C more than T

Fade all day

I agree with an earlier post of yours JG needs to get bigger ... quick. Though a nice catch and glimpse of possibly what's to come at some point he's not going to out jump or muscle SEC corners like he did Osbourne

LOL. No chance Robertson backs up Richmond at LT. Hurd will play TE before that happens.

Indeed, I cant figure how they put all SEC freshman and was hurt last year and banged up this spring, The dude has a better chance going pro after this year than being back up.

****UNLESS INJURED*****

Kendrick will back up both tackle positions and as much as I like the effort Jumper shows, by fall camp At the very least Blakely will be the back up if he picks the system up

Maybe Croom should have stayed at WR. From what I have seen, it looks like Eli Wolf has passed him. Now, I haven't seen everything the coaches have, but Eli seems to at least have better hands.

Not to mention that he looks like he is about 140 lbs soaking wet. I really like what he did in the spring game, just like everyone else. He could add a dimension to this offense we haven't seen since Justin Hunter was her, but teams will play physical press coverage on him and he won't be able to go and get the ball, unless he gains some weight.

I'm pretty sure Weisman will be backing up Thomas, but at this point I dont really care. Its just good to
see some depth out there again.

Very curious how the future at center pans out. I'm assuming Weismann is the real back up this year at center.

So the guy with worse hands then Eli should be at WR? If his hands are good enough for WR there good enough for TE

Move him to defensive end for all I care. I was just pointing out that Croom may have been passed by the younger Wolf brother.

Croom seems to make the catches in games, when healthy, so maybe he remains at 2nd string TE.
