I'm wondering what symptoms other folks are having after Covid 19.

I cant confirm that I had it because I believe I caught it on Dec 22 of 2019. I was so sick that I wrote down my symptoms in my work ledger. It took me approximately 2 months and 1 doctor visit before I felt like I wasn't sick anymore. After that I had weird symptoms that I could answer through being middle aged and out of shape.

But, it's 1 year later and I'm experiencing things that doesn't make sense to me. Number 1 symptom for me is my mouth. I constantly feel like I have thrush/scalded mouth. I used to love spicy foods and now ketchup/table salt makes my mouth uncomfortable. I constantly feel like my mouth is raw. Eating normal spicy things like normal buffalo wing sauce is painful when I could eat raw habanero and enjoy it before.

I have joint pain, body aches, or just lethargy that I probably shouldn't have. I'm not gonna lie I'm 45 and not the most healthy person but I do athletic things with my son. I was very athletic in my adolescence. I'm still pretty active for my age I believe.

I already worried about my mind, but my memory issues/cognitive ability seems to have taken a big hit Especially when the sun goes down. I can get a fog that I just want to recede into mindless functions of watching tv and not having to think. This hurts me in my job.

Has anyone else fought with issues like this ? Especially the mouth thing. The taste problem is the number 1 issue that I fight with regularly day to day. I could probably write the other stuff off to old age, but food is one of my luxuries in life and this is causing me daily distress.

Thoughts??

I had a mild version in November (positive brain probe test confirmed). My energy level hasn’t come back close to normal and I randomly smell smoke (like sniffing an ash tray).
Fatigue is what tipped me that it wasn’t normal sinus junk. I’m historically a night owl and I found myself just wanting to go to bed all day.

sorry to hear.

there are some treatments for long haul Covid that involve Niacin in some form (can't recall off the top of my head but worth Googling).

I had it a few months back and I get some occasional brain fog. I have a hard time remembering things that I didn’t struggle with before, but it happens randomly.

I caught it a couple of weeks before christmas and there are a couple of things that are really weird, First one is at times I can feel one of those covid headaches coming on but as soon as it begins it ends...God those were the worst...I honestly can't imagine a migraine being much worse than some of the ones i had during the time I had it...Horrible pain...The other is sometimes I will begin to feel a little sick and then it disappears...Never use to feel like that before...Luckly I had mild symptoms compared to many people...The headaches were easily the worse I experienced.

Did you ever take an antibody test to confirm that it was COVID!

I'm two weeks out, and I can't smell a thing. Taste is a little dull, but I think that's due to my loss of smell.

My energy level is back to normal, and I almost feel a little excited, but I think that might be related to a sense of relief over the acquisition of immunity. I've been able to run or workout each day since about day #4.

I hope you are able to get some answers. Off the top of my head, various causes for taste disturbance would include upper respiratory infections, tobacco use, autoimmune conditions, nutritional/vitamin deficiencies, salivary gland problems... Many of these can be investigated with simple bloodwork. If all is normal, it might be worth seeing an ENT.

As soon as I lost taste and smell, I started with aromatherapy I saw on line. Within 2 days most of that came back. It's been 3 weeks and taste and smell is about 95%.

Caught it before Christmas and it was mild even though I had every risk factor. Was swabbed and blood tested at my Dr office. Positive on the swab and showed blood antibodies. They gave me a zpack prescription . No headaches or body aches, slight temp for a couple of days, no cough, lost taste and smell for two weeks. However I got a rash around my midsection similar to the after effects of my shingle shot. Puzzles me as to why I got off easy. Genetics or diet?

No, I figured it was so long ago that it wouldn't show.

Another supervisor at work had it before me and he had every major symptom. Ran high fevers, body aches, throwing up, pneumonia. Had flu test twice, negative both times. I caught what he had. Worst respiratory virus I've ever had. I didnt have the high fevers or throwing up but I believe I had pneumonia. My blood oxygen level dropped and I actually thought I would quit breathing if I tried to sleep on my back. I would wake up gasping for air so I had to sleep on my side and couldn't sleep but short periods at a time. I dealt with breathing issues and lethargy for up to 3 months after.

I dont use tobacco but do drink alcohol occasionally. The mouth issues kind of came and went but now seem more frequent. I'm at the point where I'm going to get a yearly check up and mention it to my doctor. Also, the memory/confusion issues are becoming a problem. I'm not getting younger I understand that but it's very annoying.

Could be genetics. I've read things like blood type mattered. Dont know if that's true or not though.

Got it in early December, and I still do not have my full sense of smell back. Very strong smells I can faintly detect, yet some normal things like fries in the oven smell off to me. Almost every time I use the oven or air fryer it smells like wet garbage, but my wife says it smells fine to her. Very strange. Also been extremely lethargic. I usually run off of 6 hours of sleep, but now I'm getting 7-8 every night and still feel exhausted all day. I've recently had some gum swelling as well as jaw pain. However, that could be unrelated.

I’m about 3 days behind you. Only real symptoms I’ve dealt with are the smell/taste thing. Never any fever, maybe coughed 20 times in 10 days.

Worked out or worked in the yard every day after I tested positive.

I’ll be “released” tomorrow...but I’m still waiting to get taste and smell back. One of the craziest things I’ve ever experienced. Zero smell and almost no taste. I’m trying to find some stuff to try to restart it but everything seems so hokey...

My GF definatly had it. Her tounge was raw and discolored. Spicy food now sets her mouth on fire.

Have you been checked for Covid antibodies?
I see that has already been asked. You should ask for the antibody test anyway IMO.

Your description of waking up gasping for breath when sleeping on your back is possibly sleep apnea. Try to always sleep on your side and have a sleep study approved by your doctor. Don’t take it lightly because Reggie White died of it I his mid forties I think.

I have moderate to severe apnea and have used a bipap machine for about 8 years. I would probably be dead without this invention.

I had it at the end of October. Never ran a fever or had a cough but did lose my taste and smell. I did have a weird feeling in my chest but not necessarily any pain or trouble breathing. My taste and smell started gradually coming back about 5 days after I lost it. Like someone else said I did some homemade aroma therapy so it may have helped. I had a stretch of about to 2 weeks, probably after I started getting my taste and smell back, where I had little energy and was sleeping more than usual. Sometimes I’m not sure if my taste and smell is 100% when I eat some things but it was something I took for granted before so it’s hard to say.
