I started this thread to see what over vol fans thought about the Gators and the hellacious recruits theyve pulled in the past few years....Is it safe to say that tennessee will not beat them for a while???? Or for that fact any college team???? They are stacked now in every position and luckily tennessee pulled some much needed recruits to fill a few holes in the depth chart but Florida is gonna be the team to beat for a while just wanted to see what everyone else though ......... ...rock out with ur .... out

UF beat UT this year by 1 point and a crap roughing call. I guess that spells domination in Gainesville.  :search: :moon2:

There was also a phantom call for blocking in the back on a punt return for a touchdown by Floriday too so I guess they evened out. Still, 1 point is a game that could go either way.

I guess that is what Air Force says too...as a healer for defeat:)

Perfect description of a Fulmer game plan. To answer the question, IMO if UT cannot beat UF this year it will not happen again until sometime after 2010. The Gators will have a few holes to fill on defense and the Vols get them early enough in the season that they will probably still be working the kinks out.

This just confirms what I thought about Florida fans...So I guess the rest of the SEC should just quit now and Florida should go to the SEC championship game next year?

Sure your recruiting class seems good, however, you lost your best DB, your best LB, and a few of your D-Line. Also, let's not forget all Tebow did was run last year. Sure, he threw a few passes but it seems that most teams were geared for him to run so it was a great call to have pass a few times and it worked but teams will not be fooled this year as they know he cannot run every play so he must throw.

This thread is a perfect example of a delusional Gator fan coming in here and trying to stir some things up...they must have nothing better to do with their time...:good!:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Since 1992/Spurrier Era, Florida is our biggest rival and measuring stick... not Alabama. A loss to Florida is far more damaging than any loss to a Western Division foe. Beating Florida should be job number one every season.

Yup, college football has been chocked full of repeat national champions.

I wish you would have a little common sense: since the BCS started, NO team has won more than 1 National Title.

It's NOT safe to say that Florida won't lose to Tennessee or anybody, cause get this - the difference between a #1 recruiting class and a #3 recruiting class is almost nothing.

This reminds me of the talk a season or two ago when the ESPN experts were trying to crown UGA as the new Big Dawg in the SEC. It's rare to win the East two years in a row and even more rare to win the SEC twice in a row.

Winning 1 SEC Championship and National Championship in a row does not make a dynasty. With South Carolina's emergence as a recruiting force I think it's even more unlikely for anyone to dominate the division including Florida.

I think this has been the general concensus for a while:good!:

I think the initial post here is a bit of an oversimplification primarily because you have to be really good AND get a ton of breaks to make it to the NT game. Florida had so many things fall their way last year that it is tough to see how they can be annointed as the next USC, even if they did recruit really well.

Consider the one point win over UT (a game I still say Florida dominated but it did come down to the end in terms of score), the three blocked kicks against South Carolina, the loss by USC to a mediocre UCLA team at just the right time, etc., etc.

Obviously, Florida had an excellent team last year. But it takes that and some really lucky bounces of the ball to get to the big game, much less win it. I think anyone who has watched the game for a few years realizes that being a good team is usually not good enough,m by itself.

Hey Tim, I didn't know that children that were home schooled were allowed to use a computer. Tell Urban that latex and petroleum based lubricants should never be mixed. In this day and age you can never be too careful.

You would be surprised at the number of Vol fans that would still be willing to sacrifice a loss to Florida for a win over Alabama...

These people are hung up on the past. Alabama used to be the biggest game of our season... before the conference expanded. Not that I'm saying that I don't mind beating Bama, but some of our older fans have more hate for Bama than for Florida, which explains why many of them are Fulmerites and give him a pass because he has consistantly beaten Alabama, even though he's struggled with Florida, bowl games, top 25 teams, etc...

Umm... I don't really see how the two are related, and as a Vols fan, I don't want to lose to either. However, you are right, for about the last 10-12 years we have seen the Florida game get bigger and bigger, and the Alabama seem to take on a bit less meaning.

I think Florida will be the toughest opponent on our schedule for several years to come. This thread took a turn towards who our biggest rival is and, of course, that depends on the view of the individual. Florida is the game that is most necessary to win the east but does that constitute the biggest rivalry? To me it will always be Alabama. I have said this before and I still honestly and truly mean it. "If I had a choice of going 11-1 and losing to Alabama or going 1-11 and beating Alabama.... I WOULD TAKE THE LATTER WITH NO HESITATION. To me Florida is just a great opponent that must be beaten to win the east but it is not a rivalry.
