We don't know right now. But if there was anything going on with the recruitment of BB, and DD forces him to pay his own way to K state this semister, then what would stop BB from letting the cat out of the bag after his college career is over as a way of getting back at UT?
Obviously Pete Carroll got away clean when USC was hit because he went to the NFL. Since Kiffin is still in the NCAA but is now with a different team, if the investigation turns up major violations, is it possible for some of the penalties to hit Kiffin or will all the sanctions be directed at the institution?
Assuming that the head coach of a program is like a captain on a ship - responsible for everything that happens on board - then there SHOULD be some downside for Kiffin if violations are indeed found,at least at a logical level.
The thorny question is this: how could you punish Kiffin without also punishing USC? Even though I am a Bruin alum it does not seem fair to punish a program for what their new coach did at a previous gig.
On the other hand, if coaches knew IN ADVANCE that the consequences of violations at one school could follow them to their next job, they might be more attentive to compliance issues.
You miss your futon dont you?
If John Calipari can go from program to program and NCAA does nothing to him I doubt Kiffin has anything to worry about. Remember Calipari just left Memphis before they got hammered for their lack of control under his watch. All he got was a multi million dollar salary at Kentucky.
