They also had almost 400 yds of offense

I don't see why people keep trying to argue with me about this. They weren't a bad team, but the post I was responding to said that they kept it close most of the game. The game was blown open well before half time.

I'm not trying to belittle the new coach either. I'm just saying that we don't need to make stuff up to make him look better. He lost that game pretty badly. He only lost 6 in 3 years which is about 1/3x Dooley's rate. Hopefully he's able to bring that winning culture to UT.

Man I wish we could have many more with this kids heart and love for UT. Came a split second from breaking a Bama fans jaw last yr when he started talking trash about him and wouldn't let it go. Luckily his buddy could tell in my eyes i was past the pt, grabbed him and walked him away.

First of all, don't confuse Butch Jones with Butch Davis like I briefly did. He doesn't have recruiting violation problems.

He has a solid resume, I would rate him 3-5 to 3.75 out of 5 stars with Peterson and Patterson being 5 star and Strong being 4.5.

Main concerns with Coach Jones are recruiting and defensive expertise. If he recruits well, then the other problems tend to solve themselves.

I guess in the next two weeks, we see who he keeps and who he boots. Grahman and Pittman are definitely keepers. I'm ok with Chaney too but he will have to assimilate with Coach Jones offense schema. Special teams coaches IDK, Defensive coaches...It will be hard to keep any of them.

The only concern I have is his recruiting. He's never been anywhere longer than 3 years, in 20 years of coaching, and has never had to play the kids he recruited.

80-90% of Cincy's players were recruited by the previous coach...

I'm worried, no lie

Jones was at Cincinnati for 3 years, yet you claim 80-98 per cent were the former coaches players? Did you learn your ciphering at the same school as Jethro Bodine? I suggest you need to practice your 'goes intas' ....

You had me until you had strong at 4.5. Just sayin...

DC hire has been my biggest concern the whole time. Even thought we'd be better off keeping dooley instead of being way behind in the DC search like we ended up doing anyway. Thing is I think we r going to have to go after the best mid major dc there is. These guys have been facing this new type of O for awhile so adjusted better to it. Just hopefully one with ground and pound experience/knowledge too is out there. But of course this place will go nuts with a hire like this cause they won't understand the reasoning for it. Then again trying to get someone to uproot to come to this mess makes the pool a lot smaller too. Best plan will again be to keep chaney and throw all we can at the DC. Just IMHO that's all...

Not bashing your rating, but why rated less than strong when head to head Jones holds a 2-1 edge?

This isn't meant to bash the hire, but does Butch Jones have recruiting contacts in the the South? I thought UT would go with somebody with SEC connections or at least southern connections given the importance of recruiting particularly in the SEC.

Chizik has a 1-0 edge over Chip Kelly. Does that mean he's a better coach?

Sumlin is 1-0 against Saban. Does that mean he's a better coach?

Three games means three times the sample size than the examples you cited.

2-1 shows a pattern or trend, especially when that one loss was AT UofL, deep into overtime.

Didn't Dooley pound his team? Hmmm

Yep, low point of his season. But then he went on to learn from the game, won a bunch more, ended up winning the conference, going to a bowl and being awarded BE COY.

We followed up by going 0 for October.

Explain what Strong has done in his coaching career to be on par with Chip Kelly and Nick Saban? Poor comparison.
