POSITIVITY!

I'm positive that Mike Matthews will probably get a big raise for dropping at least 4 tds and a few more passes this season. But wait, He's a 5 star!!!
I'll be stunned if he doesn't hit the portal and move on. With what we're losing plus the uncertainty at QB not to mention coaching staff, I just can't see a reason not to seek greener pastures. Wish him well. Having said all that, the guy really is a safety. Might even have an NFL career if he'd put ego aside and make the move.

We were a very young team, endured the worst publicity after Spring practice, we have the #8 recruiting class coming to the Hill, and we were a missed FG and a strip-sack- fumble against OU away from being a playoff team.

It was an opportunistic defense just not a great statistical one. The offense unexpectedly shined with Aguilar at QB. There, that’s two positive things. I do wish the season had gone better though. We were right there with GA and should have won. Shoulda won the OK game going away.

Revisionist history says we just lose the AL game and have a wholly different mindset going into Vandy. Maybe that woulda been enough for a playoff bid at 10-2.

Playoffs don’t seem to matter these days when you have a bought and paid for pseudo-NFL team at OSU.

Everyone is accountable from the AD on down for how the season unfolded. Hopefully they get it right next year with all the talent coming in.
Why are we surprised with Joey? He put up great yardage and TD numbers at App State. And don’t tell me the competition he played against; he played with weaker talent around him too. Too many ignore the concept of relativity when evaluating players and coaches. The level of competition isn’t the only aspect of the equation that changes.

The fly overs, when they can get fighter jets, are simply amazing adds to the pre game environment in Neyland, the roar of the afterburners echo throughout the stadium and remind us why we are able to live freely in this country

Your argument is misplaced. I was pleasantly surprised since I had no first hand data to derive an informed opinion. Nico was a known quantity at the time. Joey was clearly talented based on his past numbers but I think most on here could agree that it was a wait and let’s see what we got approach, especially with the compressed schedule for learning the offense and developing cohesion with the players. Heck, Im glad we got him and hope he can run it back next year

I’m positive this is going to be a long off season…and I’m pretty, pretty, pretty positive we hit the portal hard on defense.

If not for Joey A and certain WRs making plays this season, our season would have been a train wreck. Far worse than we could imagine. Sure, we had some blunders here and there and yes we slid some games, but had we had Nico we certainly would have lost a few more.

Anyways, Go Vols!

I’m surprised he put up 3500 yards because no one has in this offense, I’m not surprised he put up 2800+ and I’m not surprised he put up more than Nico. We saw that Nico couldn’t connect on deep balls and was consistently late and high across the middle so unless he drastically improved his vision and timing we saw his ceiling last year. That was cemented by his season at UCLA.
