When murder is not involved, I agree that there are crimes that deserve to be more punished more severely.

Scene 1: Guys in a Nashville bar starts a fight over whether Alabammer has better fans than Tennessee. That might be called a hate crime, but it snot.

Scene 2: Guy in a bar beats snot outta a gay/black/white/latino/religion du juor/blue hair man. Calling him all sorts of vulgarities about said et ceteras in the process.

Crazy dude in Scene 1 has less jail time coming than crazy POS in Scene 2.

That was part of it and a good thing. There are many examples of bigoted and biased local law enforcement not responding to and investigating these types of crimes properly. There was a need for fed involvement.



You gave an example of circumstances where two crimes with the same result should be punished differently. Hate crimes are the same. If it is a hate crime you deserve more time. If it is premeditated murder versus an accident or crime of passion you deserve more time. I don't know why ya'll are acting like there aren't a bunch of crimes where sentencing is different due to the circumstances.

Not only that but once the feds get involved you get that fed money. We agree on a subject. Scary. Time to go drink myself into a blackout so I can forget this.

I never said they didn't. There are many examples I have posted of just such a thing. It doesn't mean fed intervention is not needed sometime. The Civil Rights era was a huge example.

Guy was in Court today yelling about freedom, and freedom of expression in the US.

He assailed a Muslim girl due to her religion and dress, then killed two guys for taking up for her.

This word freedom. I don't think it means what he thinks it means.

That's not really a crazy idea. It's literally genital mutilation and is no longer necessary because man invented soap. What's weird is that we are essentially performing cosmetic surgery on newborn baby boys.
